It took a while to get going but the well-oiled Northern Ireland machine was firing on all cylinders in the middle of the half.

With three points *hopefully* secured, this should be an opportunity to enjoy what has been a memorable 2021 and celebrate the legend that is Rachel Furness.

  2. HALF-TIMEpublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2021

    Northern Ireland 4-0 North Macedonia

Another easy half for Northern Ireland against North Macedonia.

A brace from Kirsty McGuinness, a thunderbolt from Rebecca Holloway and a record-breaking strike from Rachel Furness gives them a four-goal lead at the break.

Kenny Shiels' side have been totally dominant, having two goals ruled out in a half that could have seen them even further ahead.

Goal difference could matter, of course, so Shiels will no doubt want more of the same in the second half.

This one stayed hit once Rebecca Holloway caught it.

She only got her first NI goal last week but she has clearly caught the bug.

Lauren Wade with a good chance but keeper Lekovska is sharp off her line to stop the shot.

Good goalkeeping from a player determined to keep the score down.

Nobody deserves it more than Furness, to have that accolade as Northern Ireland's top scorer.

  9. goal

GOALpublished at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2021

    Northern Ireland 4-0 North Macedonia

If she meant that, and we think she did, that was an absolute peach of a goal from Kirsty McGuinness.

From wide on the left, she spotted the keeper off her line and found the top corner with an outstanding effort.

Pure quality from a stylish player.

Of course, it was always going to be Rachel Furness! That got the biggest cheer of the night!

Well deserved, too - what a player!

  11. Record-breaking goal for Furnesspublished at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2021

    Northern Ireland 3-0 North Macedonia

    There it is.

Rachel Furness grabs her 37th international goal and, in doing so, breaks David Healy's all-time Northern Ireland goalscoring record.

A lovely piece of history there for the Liverpool midfielder.

The ball fell to her just outside the box and she calmly slotted home into the bottom corner.

    Gail Redmond

I think we can move the ball around a little bit quicker to open up more space. I think Simone Magill can come into the pocket and I haven't seen enough from Marissa Callaghan getting into the final third.

You wait ages for an international goal and then, bam, two come in a week.

That's some hit from Rebecca Holloway and it was the sheer power that beat Lekovska in the away goal.

It's a good night for the lefties so far.

  14. Every picture and all that...published at 19:34 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2021

    Northern Ireland 2-0 North Macedonia

Just how dominant have Northern Ireland been?

The player on the ball in the picture is goalkeeper Jackie Burns. So pretty dominant, is the short answer.

Kenny Shiels' side have had all the play but only had the one goal to show for it so far.

North Macedonia are definitely more organised on Thursday and NI are having a tough job to break them down.

She gets the ball out of her feet and places it in the top corner, it's an excellent strike.

  16. goal

GOALpublished at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2021

    Northern Ireland 2-0 North Macedonia

That's some strike from Rebecca Holloway for Northern Ireland's second.

The first touch took the ball out of her feet and the second launched it into the top corner from 20 yards out.

    Quality goal from the defender.

  17. That left foot.....published at 19:31 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2021

    Northern Ireland 1-0 North Macedonia

Kirsty McGuinness doesn't need a second invitation to shoot with that sweet left foot of hers.

That pass from Rachel Furness was some invitation, mind you.

    Northern Ireland 1-0 North Macedonia

Northern Ireland still have the ball but the pace of their attacks has just dropped off in the last few moments.

They will be happy to retain possession so comfortably, but manager Kenny Shiels will no doubt be keen for a few more chances to be created.

  20. 'Quality from McGuinness'published at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2021

    Northern Ireland 1-0 North Macedonia

    Gail Redmond

There's real quality on the ball from Kirsty McGuinness. It's really fizzed across the goal, but unfortunately there's nobody there to tap home.
