  1. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 6 mins

    Spain 0-0 Scotland

    What a chance for Scotland!!!

Abi Harrison smacks the crossbar from about 12 yards out after brilliant pressing from Rachael Boyle to force a stray pass across Spain's box.

Harrison is under pressure from the defender and unfortunately leathers the ball against the bar. Huge, huge chance.

  2. CLOSE!published at 4 mins

    Spain 0-0 Scotland

Dearie me, somehow it's still 0-0.

A beautiful ball in behind Rachel McLauchlan sets Isasa free, she tees up Jennifer Hermoso, whose back-heel flick hits Rachel Corsie and goes just wide.

Bizarrely, a goal kick is given. Hermoso tried to be too clever. The goal was at her mercy.

  3. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Spain 0-0 Scotland

Spain in control of the ball in the opening few minutes, but Scotland swarm them pretty effectively.

That is until Alexia Patellas escapes down the left and whips a ball to the back post, where Nicola Docherty has to turn it behind. Scotland defend the corner.

Thumbs up for a Scotland result, thumbs down if you reckon Spain will stroll it...

  6. Rampant Spainpublished at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2021

    Spain v Scotland (20:00)

Spain are in quite frankly ridiculous form.

They have won their last 15 games, scoring 88 goals without reply.

Jorge Vilda's side have put 22 goals past the Faroe Islands in two meetings, and seven and six respectively against Hungary and Ukraine. Daunting.

They've also beaten the likes of England, Denmark, and the Netherlands in that run.

It's a bit of a concern making three changes in our back four. For a national side you want to have a solid unit.

  8. Passion and spirit required - Martinez Losapublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2021

    Spain v Scotland (20:00)

Scotland manager Pedro Martinez Losa plans to attack down the middle in order to hurt Spain:

"The main thing we are looking for is to put pressure on the Spanish centre-backs, against Sweden we did not not do that. We are looking to go forward through the middle and get numbers through the middle.

"We want to use the physicality to protect the middle and the centre-backs.

"Spain are a team who dominate the play, they have patterns of play that we have analysed. Against an attacking team, there is always moments that you can exploit like counter attacking opportunities.

"The mind set is that they don't keep winning forever.

"We have already competed against Spain, Brazil and Japan. We have to use our spirit and passion to match Spain."

  9. The late showpublished at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2021

    Spain v Scotland (20:00)

Scotland have left it late in their last two qualifiers. Firstly, a last-minute Rachel Corsie header earned a 2-1 home win against Hungary last month.

Then, last Friday, Abi Harrison also headed home in stoppage time to snatch a draw against Ukraine at Hampden.

Another late intervention to earn some points would be most welcome tonight...

  10. How it stands...published at 19:48 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2021

    Spain v Scotland (20:00)

There's been a bit of a shock result in this group already tonight, with Hungary dismantling Ukraine 4-2.

That's a big boost for Scotland, who have already beaten the Hungarians home and away, in the race for qualification. Remember, second place goes into the play-offs.

That result takes the pressure of the Scots tonight in the race for second, anyway.

  12. Ballon d'Or winner Putellas starts for Spainpublished at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2021

    Spain v Scotland (20:00)

Much of Spain's team is made up of the formidable Barcelona side who swept aside Chelsea to win the Champions League last term.

Chief among them is Alexia Putellas, who has made it from last night's ceremony in Paris where she collected the award for the world's best female player, to start in midfield.

She scored 26 goals from midfield in all competitions at club level last season. Up front is Jennifer Hermoso, who came second in the Ballon d'Or vote. Yikes...

  13. Four changes for Scotspublished at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2021

    Spain v Scotland (20:00)

Scotland head coach Pedro Martinez Losa makes four changes from the draw with Ukraine.

Centre-back Jen Beattie went off at half-time in that game with an injury so in comes Sophie Howard, who replaced her at Hampden.

Rachel McLauchlan and Nicola Docherty come in on the right and left of defence respectively, with Rachael Boyle presumably moving into midfield. Chloe Arthur and Christy Grimshaw are the players to drop out.

Lisa Robertson also comes back into the midfield in place of Lucy Graham.

    Spain v Scotland (20:00)

We're half an hour away from kick-off as Scotland take on ridiculously in-form Spain at La Cartuja in Seville.

It's a World Cup qualifier very few expect the Scots to win, but they did manage to beat the Spaniards back in 2017. Can they pull a result out the bag to boost their 2023 World Cup hopes?
