    Hull 0-2 Stoke

The first glimpse of an opening for the hosts for some time.

A cross finds Ryan Longman at the far post and he has space to shoot, but decides to send a ball inside to George Moncur - but it's not an easy ball to control and the chance to get a shot away is missed.

It has been a better spell from Hull but as yet there's nothing to show for it.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 58 mins

    Hull 0-2 Stoke

Double change for Hull as they try to get back into a game where they've really struggled.

Matthew Smith and Tom Huddlestone are off, replaced by Randell Williams and Richard Smallwood.

    Can they make a difference?

    D'Margio Wright-Phillips looks a real prospect.

He's eager to get a goal to add to his brilliant performance and twice goes close, the second effort seeing him send a long-range curling effort narrowly wide.

Stoke assistant boss Dean Holden will be delighted with how his team have applied themselves in the Covid-related absence of manager Michael O'Neill.

They are well on top and he will be looking for his side to add a few more today.

    Tom Ince (50 mins)

    It's been coming...

More self-inflicted pain for Hull, who have possession but give it away cheaply as James Chester's block turns into a good pass for Sam Clucas.

He sends the ball towards the edge of the box, where Tom Ince takes a touch before lashing a left-footed shot that beats Nathan Baxter all-ends-up.

Hull don't seem able to change the flow of the game or plug these gaps and Stoke are attacking at will.

    Hull 0-1 Stoke

Well, whatever the Tigers boss said it's had little effect.

Sam Clucas has a shot blocked after 30 seconds of the second half and then Josh Tymon beats two defenders too easily before Sean McLoughlin gets across with a last-ditch block.

Stoke have picked up where they left off.

We're back under way with the orders of Grant McCann no doubt ringing in the ears of the Hull players.

This photo gives you an idea of how much space Jacob Brown was given to head Stoke in-front.

He was given the freedom of the Hull penalty area, and made no mistake.

    Saturday's Championship action

    Fulham celebrateImage source, Rex Features
    • Fulham went top of the table in some style as Aleksandar Mitrovic's hat-trick and two from Neeskens Kebano saw them beat Bristol City 6-2.
    • Derby moved off the bottom of the table with another spirited win, beating Sheffield United 2-0.
    • Blackburn won 1-0 at Cardiff, while Kal Naismith's stoppage-time winner for Luton saw them beat previous leaders Bournemouth 3-2.
    • QPR won the meeting of the play-off contenders against West Brom 1-0 thanks to Charlie Austin's late header.
    • Coventry City reignited their play-off hopes with a 4-1 win at struggling Peterborough.
    • Reading's poor luck continued as Matt Crooks' brace, including the winner deep into injury time, gave Middlesbrough victory.
    • Nottingham Forest's resurgence continued as Lewis Grabban's late goal gave them a 1-0 win at Millwall.
    • Preston and Birmingham, and Huddersfield and Swansea, shared the points in 1-1 draws.

Jacob Brown's header is the difference at the break.

Stoke manager Michael O'Neill hasn't travelled after a positive Covid test but he'll be happy with what he has seen from wherever he is watching.

Some strong words needed from Tigers boss Grant McCann for his players, who have barely laid a glove on the Potters.

    Hull 0-1 Stoke

Five minutes to go before the break.

Stoke have controlled things nicely for the vast majority of the half but while there's only a goal in it, Hull have every chance of getting something out of this.

They do need to tighten up at the back and create some better chances if that is to happen though.

Hull chairman Assem Allam (left) is watching on at the MKM Stadium.

It's rumoured he'll soon sell the club to Turkish tycoon Acun Ilicali, so perhaps this will be one of his final visits to watch the Tigers...

  13. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Hull 0-1 Stoke

Hull have got themselves a shot on target.

It's a good effort from Tom Eaves, who has to reach back to get a volley away with the cross slightly behind him.

It didn't trouble Stoke goalkeeper Jack Bonham unduly but it's something for the Tigers to build on.

  14. CLOSE!published at 31 mins

    Hull 0-1 Stoke

Almost a debut goal for Phil Jagielka this time!

Joe Allen swings a cross in and again, Jagielka has so much space to turn a header at goal which is tipped over the bar.

It came from a corner after Sean McLoughlin turned a Josh Tymon clearance over his own crossbar under pressure.

Hull are unable to cope with how fast Stoke are breaking and they are getting in behind the Tigers defence time after time.

    Oops!

An awkward debut moment for Phil Jagielka as the new Stoke man skews a pass towards the corner flag.

Goalkeeper Jack Bonham races out of goal to save his blushes and put it out for a throw.

Jagielka only signed yesterday so we can maybe forgive him an early lapse of concentration!

    Jacob Brown (22 mins)

All too easy for Stoke and they lead.

Sam Clucas is given space on the edge of the box and crosses for Scotland striker Jacob Brown, who is in splendid isolation to nod home the opener - there was no-one near him.

Hull got away with a couple of defensive lapses early on but they didn't heed the warning and there's no reprieve for them this time.

Hull midfielder Greg Docherty is given the first caution of the game for a foul on D'Margio Wright-Phillips.

Son of Shaun Wright-Phillips, the ex-Manchester City man has made an eye-catching start with his neat footwork and strong running causing plenty of problems for the Tigers.

    Grant McCannImage source, Getty Images

I wonder what Tigers boss Grant McCann will make of that opening 15 minutes?

He saw his side make a positive start with good attacking intent but they've twice been caught on the counter and it's taken some last-ditch defending to stop them going behind.

A mixed bag, but it's made for an entertaining start.

    Hull 0-0 Stoke

    Should have done better!

Hull's Greg Docherty makes a hash of a presentable opportunity as the ball drops nicely to him on the edge of the area.

And straight up the other end Stoke are in again - Jacob Brown is denied twice by a combination of goalkeeper and defender.

Stoke have got in very easily a couple of times now and Hull have just managed to scramble it away on each occasion.

    Let-off for Hull!

Out of nowhere Stoke striker D'Margio Wright-Phillips is through on goal but home keeper Nathan Baxter just does enough to put him off with a challenge.

It wasn't pretty and he did well to not touch the ball with his hands as he was well outside his box, but he got the job done!

Before that Hull had made a positive start.
