Remember last season, when non-league Marine drew Tottenham in the FA Cup third round, then missed out on a windfall because the match had to be played behind closed doors?

Tottenham encouraged fans to buy virtual tickets for the game and to cement the relationship between the two clubs, have invited representatives to Sunday's third round tie with Morecambe.

They will be introduced at half-time to say thank you to the Spurs fans.

FA Cup third round weekend started on Friday as Manchester City beat League Two Swindon 4-1.

City will be ball number 20 when the fourth-round draw takes place on Sunday following ITV's coverage of West Ham-Leeds, which kicks-off at 14:00 GMT.

The draw will be conducted at Wembley Stadium by David James, who won the trophy with Portsmouth in 2008, and Leah Williamson, a two-time Women's FA Cup winner with Arsenal.

New signing Kieran Trippier is available for today's FA Cup fixture against Cambridge United, so will we see him in a Newcastle shirt for the first time?

This time last year no supporters were present at any of the third-round ties because of a 'stay at home' order for millions in the UK.

While fans will be allowed to attend ties in England, sport in Wales is currently limited to 50 spectators as the Welsh government continues its fight against Covid-19's Omicron variant.

Today's tie between Swansea City and Southampton (17:30 GMT) is being shown live on BBC One Wales and Sunday's match between Cardiff City and Preston North End (14:00) is live on S4C.

Third-and fourth-round replays have been scrapped this season to help with the fixture backlog caused by Covid postponements.

Ties will be played to a finish on the day, with 30 minutes of extra time and penalties to decide the winners if required.

Clubs can name nine substitutes and use five.

It's a huge day for the lowest-ranked club left in the FA Cup.

Having entered at the second qualifying round stage on 18 September, Kiddy are looking to make it six wins in the competition this season by beating Championship club Reading.

The little boy shaking hands with Barnsley captain Neil Redfearn is Russell Penn.

In 1993 Penn was mascot for his boyhood club Wolves - a birthday present to celebrate turning eight.

Fast forward 29 years and Penn is manager of National League North Kidderminster Harriers - from the sixth tier of English football - who are looking to dump Championship strugglers Reading out of the cup at a sold out Aggborough.

When I was managing in the lower leagues, we were always waiting anxiously to pull a big club out in the third round of the FA Cup.

When I got in the Premier League with Stoke, we were hoping and praying we wouldn't get anyone in the lower leagues.

And that is what is special about the third round - it's one of the great Saturdays in football in this country.

I know the FA Cup has gone down the pecking order a little bit but not with the supporters. For the supporters who back their clubs - whatever league they are in - this is a massive day for them.

Non-League Chesterfield at European champions Chelsea.

Sixth-tier Kidderminster Harriers hosting Championship strugglers Reading.

National League Yeovil against Championship leaders Bournemouth, Cambridge United at Newcastle United, Boreham Wood against AFC Wimbledon.

No other cup throws up fixtures like these.
