"When you play at home, we knew Southampton would be pushing hard and being aggressive. We struggled in the first half but had chances to score. Obviously really disappointed at half time, we pressed high in the second half but could have finished the game early. A disappointing result.

"Everyone is dropping points and it is a disappointing result. We are not looking at any other teams and want to finish as high as possible. We need go again, bounce back and it is going to be a tough night.

"We are so pleased he (Antonio Conte) is giving us so much positive vibes and energy and a winning mentality. If we lose, players should take responsibility. We have to bring back on Sunday where we should be."

Raphinha comes flying in with a scissor kick and misses Ashley Young but the Villa full-back can't believe that's not penalised for dangerous play.

"They defended well and had a tight unit. We just had to keep probing and try to find the gaps."

On their 12-point lead in the Premier League: "It's another game, we move on step by step, that's all we can do - keep trying to win and not looking at anyone else."

Southampton striker Che Adams: "We could have won it in the first half but got over the line and are buzzing now.

"For them to come out and score was a kick in the teeth but we managed to turn it around.

"I caught the flight of the ball and managed to head it on goal. Everyone works so hard day in day out and we scraped it again. They had a disallowed goal but we stuck together and got the three points.

"Against teams like Tottenham, they are going to punish you but we are full of confidence going into the weekend against Manchester United at Old Trafford. This is a hard place to come and they are a great team."

Now this one isn't a mistake... Ezri Konsa has picked up a second booking for blocking Illan Meslier's clearance! He's off!

Tyler Roberts was set to come on for Dan James too but he was livid with Marcelo Bielsa and essentially told him he wasn't coming off!
