I don't think we have played anywhere near our best.

The problem for me is the two lads in central midfield. They are doing a job rather than thinking, when we are in possession, it's up to us to try to control this game.

They are doing a very good job defensively but it's the other side of the game which is more important when you are in possession.

I don't think we necessarily need changes, I think we need to see a bit more from the players out there.

It's been a niggly, bitty game. We have seen the referee blowing his whistle constantly and the Polish players going down, they are just looking to break the game up.

I think there is more in us. This team are there for the taking but we have not been brave enough in possession at times.

When we have got around the 18-yard box there has not been enough invention.

Rob Page would like to see more creativity when we get there.

Dan James had a great opportunity. But when you have that amount of time to think and you are not playing with a lot of confidence, it's always going to be difficult.

He didn't make the most of it. That's the way it's going for the lad at the moment.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 25 September 2022

    There we are.

Lots of hustle and bustle, few chances.

  5. Postpublished at 45+3 mins

    Poland 0-0 Wales

Wojciech Szczesny collects bravely after Ben Cabango wins a header, with the goalkeeper beating Gareth Bale to the ball.

  6. Postpublished at 45+1 mins

    Wales 0-0 Poland

Neco Williams finds some space, but Rhys Norrington-Davies overhits his pass to him.

Wales definitely have the players to find openings, they just need to be better with their final pass.

  7. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Wales 0-0 Poland

End-to-end football and BBC Radio Wales commentator Rob Phillips still managed to squeeze in a reference to the fact he appeared in Welcome to Wrexham.

Three minutes to be added on.

I think we miss that platform to play off without Kieffer Moore.

Brennan Johnson does ever so well.

It's on target - clear the decks Dan James, out the way son.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 42 mins

    Wales 0-0 Poland

Rhys Norrington-Davies gets a very soft yellow card for a foul on Robert Lewandowski.

    Embarrassing.

Poor play by Neco Williams and Poland work the ball to Piotr Zielinski, but his powerful shot is straight at Wayne Hennessey.

  13. CLOSE!published at 39 mins

    Wales 0-0 Poland

Wales almost caught Poland out with Connor Roberts' huge throw.

Poland were not alert to it and Gareth Bale found space on the corner of the six-yard box, but Wojciech Szczesny saved.

Then at the other end Wayne Hennessey tries to control a back-pass and comes within inches of conceding a crazy own goal.

    Wales 0-0 Poland

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Cardiff City Stadium

This feels a little like Thursday's match against Belgium in the sense that Wales are struggling to keep hold of the ball and, save for the odd counter-attack, cannot impose themselves on the game.

The main difference is that Poland don't have Kevin De Bruyne.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 35 mins

    Wales 0-0 Poland

Grzgegorz Krychowiak is booked for a cynical foul on Joe Morrell after Morrell won possession.

I am not sure if Ben Cabango meant to do that or it was a clearance, but it's one ball over the top and Dan James is in behind.

It's an acute angle and on his weaker left foot. He shoots straight at the goalkeeper.

He has to try to get that across the goalkeeper.

  17. CLOSE!published at 32 mins

    Wales 0-0 Poland

    Could be 1-0.

Ben Cabango's clearance becomes a pass and sends Dan James clear, but his first shot is saved by Wojciech Szczesny and then his shot/cross is saved on the rebound.

That was the moment Wales had been waiting for.

There aren't enough options there when Wales win the ball back.

Connor Roberts kicks it into no man's land.

I would like to see Wales get back on the ball now and try to control the game a bit more.

Good cross from Wales, but Connor Roberts fouls Piotr Zielinski.

Nathan Blake spot-on, a running battle.

Piotr Zielinski and Connor Roberts are having a real good battle down the Welsh right.

They have both had their moments.
