FT: West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

A disappointing night then at The Hawthorns as two old warhorses Steve Bruce and Tony Mowbray oversee a goalless draw.

But there are three more Championship games to come tomorrow.

Cardiff City host Coventry City, there's a London derby as Millwall host QPR and there's a Yorkshire derby too as two of Bruce's old cubs meet, Sheffield United v Hull City

Join us then hopefully for a bit more fun and japes!

It's another point on the board.

Blackburn couldn't get to grips with it in the first half, but they then came out fighting and took control of the game.

They've definitely deserved a point and were maybe just the better team over the 90 minutes.

    That's it at The Hawthorns.

Nobody wants to end up scoreless on Valentine's night.

But this was a day for defences - and the obvious result.

Two teams who have both now gone four games without a goal - and the Championship's second top scorer Ben Brereton Diaz injured in the process.

It would be cruel on either side to lose this now.

    Time almost up.

  5. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:48 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2022

Three minutes more, says the Albion man on the tannoy.

  6. Postpublished at 21:46 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2022

West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

Albion almost snatch it in the 89th minute.

Amazing acrobatic clearance off the line by Rovers sub Tyrhys Dolan to keep out Adam Reach's header. Phew!

  7. Postpublished at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2022

West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

Frustration for Andy Carroll as he turns brilliantly to latch onto a clearance close to the halfway line but loses it again as he had nobody running for him, on the break.

'Must not lose' is clearly the Bruce mantra now.

Rovers sub Reda Khedra tries his luck with a free kick from fully 35 yards.

It bends wide. That would not have been bothering Sam Johnstone.

A minor kerfuffle involving Andy Carroll and Rovers defender Ryan Nyambe.

    Soon sorted though.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:37 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2022

West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

A second sub on for Albion too.

Youth product Taylor Gardner-Hickman comes on for Jayson Molumby.

  11. Postpublished at 21:35 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2022

West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

For all their failure to score of late, Albion have not had a goalless draw since before Christmas.

This would be Rovers' second in four games.

This game is at least better than the absolute stinker the fans endured at Luton.

Sub Reda Khadra almost makes an instant impact but Sam Johnstone blocks his fierce angled right foot shot.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:33 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2022

West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

Second sub for Rovers. Joe Rankin-Costello off.

    Tyrhys Dolan comes on.

BBD comes off, to be replaced by Reda Khedra.

That doesn't look good news for Rovers fans.

West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

Ben Brereton Diaz becomes the second Rovers man to force a save out of Sam Johnstone but he immediately goes down in pain.

Hard to see what he did - but he's clearly not happy and he's still off the pitch debating what to do next with a two-man Rovers support team.

Nick in York: Calling this now. NEITHER of these teams will make the play-offs.

Bold call, Nick, but neither side are inspiring too much confidence right now...

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 63 mins

West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

First substitution of the night as Albion boss Steve Bruce brings on Grady Diangana on for Karlan Grant.

Diangana missed horribly in Bruce's first game in charge at Bramall Lane last week - and got dropped.

Could this be the night to atone?

Another goal chalked off. This time for Rovers.

Ben Brereton Diaz took it well - but he was a foot offside.

And John Buckley then forces a save from Sam Johnstone, who dives low to keep out his shot.

Albion are under the cosh as Andy Carroll shows his long-renowned aerial strength at the back, too, with a great clearing header.

This is totally different from the first half for Blackburn.

The two centre-forwards have pushed up the pitch and we're seeing some good forward runs from Sam Gallagher.

  19. Postpublished at 57 mins

West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn win a right-wing corner but big Dutch stopper Jan Paul van Hecke heads over from Joe Rothwell's delivery.

Rovers then go even closer from another Rothwell flag kick, as Scott Wharton's header flies even more narrowly over.

  20. Postpublished at 51 mins

West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

Albion win their second corner of the night but the danger is cleared.

They then get the ball into the back of the net from Matt Clarke, but the lino had long since flagged for offside.
