It's been a night to remember for some of the teams in the top six, including Sheffield United who arguably pulled off the result of the evening by battling with 10 men to beat Blackburn, including saving a penalty along the way.

That just about does us until Saturday when the English Football League picks up from where it left off.

It looks like we're in for a very special end to the season.

For now, thank you for joining us.

    Stoke City 1-2 Luton Town

The message from the Luton fans is quite clear.

"Ee aye ee aye ee aye oh . . . Up the Football League we go"

The Hatters are up to 8th in the table, just a point off the play-offs. And Nathan Jones will leave the Potteries tonight far happier than the last two times he left.

When he got sacked in November 2019 and when Luton got beat 3-0 here when he returned for the first time last February.

Deserved winners too. And bad news for Stoke.

    Fulham 2-1 Peterborough

    Aleksandar MitrovicImage source, Getty Images

So with 33 goals now to his name, Aleksandar Mitrovic has become the leading goalscorer in a Championship season.

He has scored at least two in a game - as he did tonight - on nine occasions and frighteningly, he has scored more on his own than Swansea, Hull, Peterborough and Barnsley.

The Serb will surely get another crack at the Premier League next year, but will he and Fulham finally get it right at that level?

And here's how things look at the bottom.

Peterborough's defeat by Fulham leaves them eight points from safety but with a game in hand on Derby who also lost to Millwall.

Wayne Rooney's Rams have much to do if they are to pull off a miraculous escape.

    And breathe.

This is how the top of the Championship looks after an absolutely frantic night.

QPR and Huddersfield are the big winners as they leapfrog Blackburn whose defeat by Sheffield United came at the worst possible time.

    Stoke 1-2 Luton

Nathan Jones can have a big smile on his face after this one.

Personal success after his struggles as Stoke boss, but an eighth win in 12 for Luton and they are right in the mix for a play-off push.

Stoke can pretty much forget about making the top six.

    Fulham 2-1 Peterborough

Closer than it should have been, but three points closer to the Premier League for Fulham.

Another great night for Aleksandar Mitrovic as his two goals did the business as they always do in the Championship.

    Derby 1-2 Millwall

Derby left their comeback too late against Millwall and they remain eight points adrift of 21st-placed Reading.

Jed Wallace's early strike and Tyler Burey's first-half strike gives the Lions three points and moves them up to 12th.

It's all gone quiet at the away end, all of a sudden.

Lewis Baker's stunning curler has given Stoke hope. Surely not?!!!

The noisy home fans certainly think so!

Why has it taken until being two down in injury time to start playing though?

    QPR 2-1 Blackpool

All over and QPR have pulled off a late win against Blackpool despite playing the whole second half with 10 players after Dion Sanderson's first-half sending off.

The Rs move up to third in the table and, in addition to Huddersfield's likely win against Cardiff, this is a really bad night for Blackburn.
