    Derby 0-1 Millwall

End to end stuff, this. Millwall now chasing a second goal against Derby.

Jake Cooper heads Shaun Hutchinson's delivery into the path of goalscorer Jed Wallace who crosses into the Rams' box but Ryan Alsop is on hand to deal with the danger for the hosts.

A midweek night at Stoke - that should be a test of Luton's outside hopes of a play-off spot!

    Derby 0-1 Millwall

Derby will want to get back on level terms against Millwall and fast having conceded early on.

They combine well to work a shot away through Max Bird but his curled effort goes wide of the mark.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Cardiff

The wind and rain is sweeping through the valley at the John Smith's and Cardiff have come closest to scoring.

Jordan Hugill's powerful header is excellently kept out by home goalkeeper Lee Nicholls as the Bluebirds look to sneak in front against the in-form Terriers.

  5. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2022

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Blackburn

This is a big one. Blackburn haven't won or scored in their past four games in the Championship and are facing an in-form Sheffield United side tonight.

Sander Berge forces a save out of Thomas Kaminski as the Blades look to take an early lead.

Kaminski parries it away and Rhys Norrington-Davies taps it home but he's flagged offside.

    QPR 0-0 Blackpool

Chris Willock tries his luck as QPR take the game to Blackpool in these early stages.

His effort takes a deflection but it's well saved by Dan Grimshaw.

  7. Postpublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2022

    Fulham 0-0 Peterborough

We've only been playing five minutes, but Fulham have already had 85% of the ball. Posh will do well to keep them out if that carries on.

Only one effort though so far from the Championship leaders, a shot from Harrison Reed deflected behind.

  8. Postpublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2022

    Derby 0-1 Millwall

Not the start Wayne Rooney's side will have wanted. Derby are eight points from safety as it stands after Reading won last night,

    Huddersfield 0-0 Cardiff

There's a bumper crowd in at the John Smith's Stadium tonight as prices have been slashed to a fiver. Great idea, too!

It's making for a cracking atmosphere early on, with a decent visiting contingent from South Wales as well.

    Jed Wallace (2 mins)

The perfect start for Millwall! Not such a great one for Derby.

Jed Wallace gives the Lions the lead courtesy of a free-kick in the early stages at Pride Park.

He whips it at a tight angle from the left-hand side of the box and it sails through a crowd of players and into the net.

We're past the 30-game marker now, with games piling up between now and May.

And with the table finely poised, who do you see making a late run for a play-off place in the Championship?

Think Stoke, Preston or West Brom have left themselves too much to do? What about Luton, Nottingham Forest, Coventry or Sheffield United?

Here's how things look just outside of the top six ahead of tonight's games and it's certainly looking tight in the battle for a play-off spot.

Sheffield United can leapfrog Middlesbrough into sixth tonight and could move above Huddersfield into fifth depending on how they get on versus Blackburn and how the Terriers do against Cardiff.

Meanwhile, out of shot in this graphic, Stoke are 13th on 44 points and could put the pressure on Luton when they welcome the Hatters this evening.

    Stoke v Luton (19:45 GMT)

    Nathan JonesImage source, Getty Images

All eyes will be on Nathan Jones ahead of this one at the Bet365 Stadium. Back at Luton, this will be his first match at the ground with spectators since he was sacked as Stoke boss in November 2019.

His ten-month spell was an unhappy one as he left the Potters bottom of the Championship after a dreadful start to the season. Michael O'Neill had to come in and pick up the pieces, which he has done, although this campaign is threatening to tail off somewhat.

Eight points off the top-six down in 13th, they really need three points at home to Jones' Hatters - three places and four points higher - to find some momentum for a late-season charge.

A home game against mid-table opposition. A home banker? No way, not in the Championship.

QPR are having a fine season but results have slowed up in the last few weeks and teams behind them are closing the gap.

Blackpool may be 15th, but they have a go at anybody and Neil Critchley's team have been a welcome addition to the league since promotion last May.

Seventh against third at Bramall Lane, but it's the team outside the play-offs who probably go in with more confidence.

Sheffield United have taken 30 points from their last 13 games and were excellent in beating Swansea 4-0 on Saturday. As for Blackburn, they were snowed off against Millwall but goals and wins have been hard to find in 2022 - just two of each. That won't get you promotion.

  18. Can the Bluebirds burst the Terriers' bubble?published at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2022

    Huddersfield v Cardiff (19:45 GMT)

    HuddersfieldImage source, Getty Images

Right, hands up who had Huddersfield down as genuine play-off contenders? No, me neither.

After finishing 20th last season, Carlos Corberan's second year in charge has been much more successful as the Terriers are fifth heading into tonight's game. A 13-match unbeaten run stretching back to the end of November has started to turn heads, most notably after Saturday's 2-1 win at Craven Cottage over Fulham.

Four wins in the last six have really changed the mood at Cardiff. From a grim fight for survival, they now have a 15-point cushion over the bottom three, with Steve Morison benefitting from some astute January signings.

    Fulham v Peterborough (19:45 GMT)

    Darren FerguonImage source, Getty Images

It will be a strange sight to see Peterborough line up tonight with Darren Ferguson prowling his technical area as manager. This will be Posh's first Championship game without Ferguson in charge since May 2010 as ex-Posh, Tottenham, West Ham and Stoke winger Matthew Etherington steps in for his first game as caretaker manager.

Ferguson resigned following the 1-0 defeat at Derby on Saturday, which left Posh deep in trouble. After Reading's victory last night, the gap to safety is now eight points, albeit with two games in hand.

One of those is tonight and a trip to Championship leaders Fulham. The best attack against the second worst defence and worst away record. Good luck Matt!

  20. Big night for Rooney's Ramspublished at 19:30 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2022

    Derby v Millwall (19:45 GMT)

    Wayne RooneyImage source, Getty Images

Despite that last-gasp win over Peterborough on Saturday, successive wins for Reading have extended the gap between the Royals and Derby to eight points.

That makes tonight's home game with Millwall so important. Wayne Rooney's team have worked so hard to overcome their 21-point deduction, but they really could do with three points tonight.

Millwall are never easy opponents for anyone, though.
