    Real Madrid 0-0 Alaves

Good handling from Alaves goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco, grasping Dani Carvajal's dangerous cross with Vinicius Jr lurking in behind.

Needed to get that one spot on.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Nantes 2-0 PSG

A booking for Marco Verratti. The PSG midfielder is kicking off for a challenge on Kylian Mbappe.

It does look like a foul but it wasn't given. Nicolas Pallois was in a foot race with Mbappe and let's be honest, unless you're Usain Bolt that's never good. The defender makes a desperate attempt to get in there before Mbappe can get away. He gets ball and man - old school - leaving the striker in a pile on the floor.

Five minutes to the break. PSG could do with something quickly...

  3. CLOSE!published at 20:39 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Real Madrid 0-0 Alaves

At the other end, Alaves almost take a shock lead as Luis Rioja darts in from the angle but strikes a low shot straight at Thibaut Courtois.

  4. Postpublished at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Real Madrid 0-0 Alaves

Real Madrid are being left frustrated so far.

Karim Benzema finds space on the edge of the area but three Alaves players come swarming in and block the shot.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:35 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Real Madrid 0-0 Alaves

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is the first player into the book for a trip on Mamadou Loum.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Nantes 2-0 PSG

Not for the first time Nantes exploit the right side of the PSG defence and Moses Simon is in. He angles down on goal, holding off his man, and sees his shot tipped away by Keylor Navas.

This is a hell of a game. It could have been all over after 30 minutes had that gone in.

  7. Postpublished at 20:31 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Real Madrid 0-0 Alaves

Real Madrid have scored just seven goals in five games this year.

    You can see why.

Federico Valverde steps forward from the middle of the park but blazes his shot over.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:31 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Nantes 2-0 PSG

Alban Lafont in the Nantes goal is like a brick wall.

What a chance this is for PSG, a three versus one opportunity sees Kylian Mbappe race away down the left. He slides Neymar in and the Brazilian has his own postcode to steady himself before driving low at the corner, only for Lafont to be there again.

Stick an 'S' on that man's chest. He's proper super.

Huge opportunity for Jason on the edge of the area, the space opens up for the Alaves player but he leans back and curls badly over.

    Nantes 2-0 PSG

Earlier I told you Randal Kolo Muani was the first man to score against PSG in two games in a league season since Patrice Loko in 1994-95.

I referenced Patrice and his dreadlocks. This was a staple in your weekly football magazine in the 1990s. Here's our man below. He won himself a few medals - cups in France - played for his country a couple of dozen times and knocked in over 100 career goals.

    Real Madrid 0-0 Alaves

Carlo Ancelotti, arms folded, stands motionlessly on the touchline.

    Eyebrow raised.

Yeh, not sure what his side are offering so far. They've been desperately poor.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Nantes 2-0 PSG

There's boxing on tonight so I'll use a boxing phrase here.

It's time to 'put some respect on the name' of my main man Alban Lafont in the Nantes goal.

He made a timely save to deny Lionel Messi at 1-0 and now with his side 2-0 up he's down like cat to palm a Kylian Mbappe shot away. Mbappe had time and space - he went for the old Thierry Henry side foot across the keeper. The boy Lafont was having none of it.

  14. Postpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Real Madrid 0-0 Alaves

    What is that??

Real Madrid get a free-kick 25 yards out and Karim Benzema hits it so badly it's ended up in the Wanda Metropolitano.

  15. Postpublished at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Real Madrid 0-0 Alaves

20 minutes in, barely seen any attacking threat from Real Madrid.

    Or Alaves for that matter.

    Merlin Quentin

Pick this out my friends. I say pick this out.

Quentin Merlin picks the ball up on the edge of the box and plays a one-two. He finds himself working across the area and slides another pass off, only to receive it back and arrow the ball into the top corner.

He loses his mind in celebration.

Go on Merlin my man, you wizard.

  17. Postpublished at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Nantes 1-0 PSG

This time it's Keylor Navas down to save well.

Andrei Girotto has a ping from 25 yards for Nantes. It's a daisy cutter but with a bit of bite to it. Smart save by the keeper down to his left. He spilled it but just about got away with it.

  18. Postpublished at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Real Madrid 0-0 Alaves

Does this count as a shot on target? I guess it should.

Dani Carvajal feeds a low cross to the near post but Marco Asensio gives a backpass to goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco which he collects.

The easiest save he will make in his entire career.

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Nantes 1-0 PSG

Lionel Messi bursts through the heart of the Nantes back four but he is repelled smartly by goalkeeper Alban Lafont.

Could it be one of those nights?

  20. Postpublished at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Nantes 1-0 PSG

Randal Kolo Muani is the first player to score for Nantes in both Ligue 1 matches against PSG in a single season since Patrice Loko in 1994/95.

Who remembers Patrice Loko? I seem to remember some killer dreadlocks. I'll find us an image.
