I will slip away my friends.

Thank you for following along today. Apologies if you're an Arsenal fan who misses your boy Auba.

I wish you a fine Sunday. There'll be plenty of football - European stuff too - on our football page.

You are awesome, each and every one of you.

    Adios.

  2. 'Auba is fabulous'published at 17:16 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2022

    Valencia 1-4 Barcelona

Barcelona's Sergio Busquets speaks to Premier Sports: "It's been an important victory today. In the first half we were very efficient. That allowed us to dominate the game. It meant we were calm enough to play in our style. I think it was good performance.

"In other games we have got ahead but have not been able to dominate and rivals have got back into the game. Today we did the job.

"Since Aubameyang arrived he has been working hard. We know he hasn't played many minutes this season. He is a fabulous player and having him in the squad having come here for free is really positive for us."

    Valencia 1-4 Barcelona

If you're just tuning in, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored Barcelona's first and third on the day - his first goals since joining from Arsenal.

Frenkie de Jong and Pedri got the others.

Valencia - 3-0 down at the break - briefly threatened something when Carols Soler made it 3-1 but Xavi's men had plenty left in the locker to get over the line.

    Pierre's day.

    Somersault in your living room.

Or maybe just do some stretching.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen screaming at his defensive troops as they repel another corner. Goalkeepers are a demanding bunch aren't they.

Adama Traore is sent away on the break but he takes a heavy touch when it looks like there may be something on. He's too quick for his own good sometimes isn't he?

While I'm all for the teenage sensation that Gavi is I'd say the man of the match comes down to Jordi Alba or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - two of the old timers if you will.

Auba had three shots, scored two. Alba made the opening goal and led by example in showing tonnes of early experience and general know-how.

The goal hero gets the nod of course - they always do.

Five added minutes as Valencia take a corner. Barca now in second gear.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:58 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2022

    Valencia 1-4 Barcelona

Adama Traore and Luuk de Jong are on.

    Gavi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang off.

    No treble for the ex-Gooner.

  9. Postpublished at 80 mins

    Valencia 1-4 Barcelona

Hugo Duro of Valencia is on the deck in the box holding his head in his hands because Marc-Andre ter Stegen has just pulled off a superb low save to deny him.

    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang nearly gets a hat-trick.

He's played through the middle and as he gets held up he tries to unselfishly pass, only for the ball to fall back his way. He prods it at goal but the home keeper is down to dive at his feet.

This was Pedri celebrating his goal earlier. I can't help but think Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should hand out a few somersault lessons.

Gavi - at 17 - is going to be some player. He draws a foul, taking the sting out of the game. He just seems to pop up here and there, his forward runs often seem well timed and all in all he just looks really well rounded.

    Oh, and he's 17.

  13. Postpublished at 73 mins

    Valencia 1-4 Barcelona

This has been a strange game for Valencia really.

They've not been outclassed or hammered by any means but a bad 15-20 minutes in that opening half has really put them away.

  14. Postpublished at 72 mins

    Valencia 1-4 Barcelona

Superb defending by Sergino Dest at the back stick as he turns a ball behind for a corner with Bryan Gil ready to apply a finish.

  15. Postpublished at 68 mins

    Valencia 1-4 Barcelona

It will not be a surprise to you or anyone else that Sergio Busquets is the first man to touch the ball 50 times. His central role and his ticking over of possession is as obvious as ever.

  16. Postpublished at 66 mins

    Valencia 1-4 Barcelona

This will now almost certainly take Barcelona's record to nine matches unbeaten in the league. It'll be three wins from their last four.

A fine bit of goalkeeping by Marc-Andre ter Stegen as he palms a vicious cross away in his six-yard box.

    Pedri

    Pick this out!

It's a sensational 30 yard whip from Pedri and there's a suggestion it's even glanced the back of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. I'm not sure if he can claim it, the ball deviated ever so slighly.

It's either an Aubameyang hat-trick or a stunner from Pedri.

When I know if they switch up the award, you guys will be the first to know.

    Valencia 1-3 Barcelona

A lovely ping from Carlos Soler from 20 yards, just wide.

Barcelona making a change. Frenkie de Jong - scorer of their second - off for Pedri.

They need a little grip here.

  19. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 57 mins

    Valencia 1-3 Barcelona

Valencia want a penalty after Hugo Duro is body checked by Ronald Araujo.

The incident though is a fraction outside the box.

Barca getting stretched a bit here.

Duro whips the free-kick.... well held under pressure.

    Carols Soler

He threw everything at that. A power header. Is it on?

Jose Luis Gaya with the superb cross from the left, Carlos Soler throws himself at it and the diving header has too much sauce on it for Marc-Andre ter Stegen to keep out.

Remember, Barca were three up at Celta Vigo not so long ago and it all went wrong....
