It could be more. Motherwell have simply been ripped apart down the flanks and outdone by a combination of awareness, composure and top quality finishes.

Yes, the home side have contributed to their own downfall as they’ve failed in positioning and desire to match runs.

That said, sometimes a team just has to accept they are being outdone by a team littered with talent and a set up that brings the best out of them.

This could get significantly worse for Motherwell on this evidence.

Already, Rangers will know nothing less than a win over Hearts will do later this afternoon.

Motherwell are too stretched. The back five should cover the whole pitch - but it's almost like they're still playing with a four. Celtic are just playing through them.

  12. 'Celtic flex muscles just as Motherwell threatened'published at 14:25 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2022

    HT: Motherwell 0-3 Celtic

    Martin Dowden

This is what this Celtic side can do.

They began swarming all over Motherwell giving very little respite and no time or space to settle.

However, just as the home side started to apply a bit of pressure up the other end it was as though the visitors thought, 'Okay, let’s show who’s in charge'.

The goals were top quality. A great delivery from Reo Hatate supplemented by what has become the norm; Liel Abada bursting a gut to make a positive impact.

Tom Rogic’s second shortly after was simply outstanding and a measure of his talent. Unstoppable and so composed.

His second, another composed finish, surely seals the points.

The third goal is a massive blow for Motherwell. Graham Alexander now has to make changes at half time. The biggest thing for me is Jake Carroll not following the run of Tom Rogic, he was never close enough

  17. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 43 mins

    Motherwell 0-2 Celtic

Chaotic scenes in the Motherwell penalty area as Liam Kelly blocks in front of Liel Abada from a Daizen Maeda cross. The ball falls to Tom Rogic and looks like he must score but his shot is blocked.

Rogic goes after the loose, looping ball but Abada, in an offside position, finishes with an overhead kick.

    Nice. But it doesn't count.

I don't know what that face-mask has done to Callum McGregor! His movement, passing and pressing was superb the other night against Rangers. It's like it has turned him into a proper Celtic captain.
