The FA are currently celebrating goalkeeper Karen Bardsley, who announced her retirement at the end of the season.

She is being presented with a framed shirt by Baroness Sue Campbell and has just been given a big roar from the England fans.

Dutch midfielder Sherida Spitse, who has been given the armband today, will make her 200th appearance and both teams will pay tribute before kick-off.

This will be Leeds fan Rachel Daly's first appearance at Elland Road - she said it was "nice to be back home" and will be fulfilling a childhood dream.

"I haven't played here before so it will be special. My whole family are die-hard Leeds fans but any game I get to put the England shirt on is special so I will treat it like any other," she added.

"Obviously it has an added element of sentiment but I just want to win the game and play as best we can.

"Playing for Leeds for most of my childhood I thought maybe one day [I would play at Elland Road] but not for England. You can only dream for that moment."

For England defender Rachel Daly, appearing at Elland Road this evening - a game that is her 50th cap for the Lionesses - will be very emotional.

Harrogate-born Daly is a lifelong Leeds fan and began her career with the club.

Her father died in September before England's 10-0 win over Luxembourg, in which Daly scored and wore a wrist band with the word 'Dad' on it.

"It will be hard for me that he is not there but he will have the best seat in the house," said the 30-year-old. "My dad was a die-hard Leeds fan and he was the person who made me the biggest Leeds fan.

"If I can make him proud, then that is all that matters to me."

When we spoke to the players at St George's Park on Tuesday, Keira Walsh insisted Sarina Wiegman had not yet given them an in-depth analysis on her former team.

"We always tend to focus on ourselves and on what we're doing, just playing an attractive style of football, that's what she wants."

But Wiegman did smile when I asked if she had a few tricks up her sleeve yesterday...

England defender Lucy Bronze said it was a 'no brainer' to move to Barcelona, adding that she rejected a return to European champions Lyon.

The 30-year-old will join Barca on a two-year deal when her Manchester City contract expires on 30 June.

"I had offers from Lyon and Barca, the two best teams in the world. It wasn't bad to be able to pick from that and make my decision," said Bronze, who played for Lyon for three years but decided against a return to France.

"It gives me loads of confidence as a player knowing these big teams who are so successful want to sign me.

"The one thing I said to Barca and my agent was 'I want it done before the tournament'.

"I want to focus on playing well for England, I don't want questions about what club you're going to next and all the talk and the gossip around that.

"We've come on heaps and bounds from the first tournament I went to, we got knocked out in the group stage.

"To consistently hit semi-finals, we're obviously doing something right. That little edge we have more than ever is that our players have played for big clubs and played in big matches like Champions League finals."

One of the biggest challenges Mark Parsons has faced in transitioning from club to international football is making the most of the time he gets with players.

"I am always going to be very involved in everything, so in the international game that adaption has been quick - scouting, building a connection, player development, staff development, your vision of football.

"That part is easy, the difference is the time, which now means you have to be unbelievably efficient. The detailed planning has to be immense, I am still learning how to be more efficient.

"I want to get things perfect and in international football you may not have the time to do that, you have to prioritise, that is hard for me - I want to be the perfect team in every area."

Expectations are high in the Netherlands - who begin their title defence against Sweden in Sheffield - despite the coach saying they remain behind a number of countries in their evolution as a team.

"The England game is going to be key because you don't really know where you are until you play top teams," he adds.

"We will not be ready at the beginning of this tournament to win it. But the idea is we don't have to be ready to win it at the beginning, we just have to be good enough to beat Sweden and Portugal and Switzerland.

"Now is that possible? Absolutely. We need to be ready by the last game. We have got to get there and we are going to need to grow through the tournament, need to win games we should win and win games maybe we shouldn't, and that is what top teams do."

It's pretty simple.

The Englishman is coaching the Netherlands, who are wearing white. England, are coached by the Dutchwoman and are wearing orange*.

Mark Parsons has coached some of the world's greatest players since leaving England more than a decade ago, though his first job back on UK turf this summer was to manage daughter Edie's Cranleigh under-8s side.

"I needed to get some experience on home soil," laughs the Englishman, 12 years since he departed Chelsea reserves to pursue a career in the United States.

On Friday, he will return as boss of the Netherlands, who face England in a friendly at Elland Road as they prepare to defend their Women's European Championship title in his home country in July.

Life has changed dramatically for Parsons since 2010, establishing himself as one of the women's game's top coaches via roles with DC United and Washington Spirit, before a huge period of success with Portland Thorns.

But the Covid pandemic made visiting family difficult and he has enjoyed life in the Netherlands since relocating in January.

"The biggest compliment is everyone in the federation is giving me everything I could ask for to succeed," the 35-year-old tells BBC Sport. "Their commitment to help me be effective is absolutely top."

The security guard was chatting to me about the reports that Leeds star Kalvin Phillips has agreed a move to Manchester City.

Ordinarily, that would ruin Rachel Daly's day. She's a huge Leeds fan but this is a dream come true for her to be playing at Elland Road for the first time.

She had a chat with Phillips about it last week at St George's Park so hopefully he's filled her in on the best knee slide spot in case she scores.

England's Euros preparation is ramping up now and they also face Switzerland on 30 June, before kicking off their campaign on 6 July at Old Trafford when they play Austria.

"We want to win every game but we also want to see an improvement in our style of play," added Sarina Wiegman.

"That is what we focus on and hopefully that brings us the win. But yes, it helps when you do win as it gives you an extra boost of confidence."

Sarina Wiegman, who won the 2017 Euros with the Netherlands before becoming England manager in September, says she is not emotional about facing her old team but admitted it will be special.

"It's a very special game obviously because I'm from the Netherlands and I worked with that team for many years but now I work with England," said Wiegman.

"It's really nice to see the [Netherlands'] team again. It is just a game in the end though but yes, it is special.

"I think the Netherlands are the strongest opponent we play [in these friendlies]. The others are going to the Euros so good opponents too but I think what the Netherlands have shown over the years, they are really good."

Sarina Wiegman has named another strong line-up with five changes from the win over Belgium.

Alex Greenwood returns at centre-back, while Leeds fan Rachel Daly lines up in the left full-back position.

Fran Kirby gets the nod in midfield and there's starts up front for Chloe Kelly and Bethany England, who replaces Ellen White after she tested positive for Covid.
