  1. Battle of recent appointeespublished at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

Greenock Morton v Ayr United (15:00)

Greenock Morton have been revived under new boss Dougie Imrie, who is back in the dugout today after his touchline ban, and a run of only two defeats in nine outings has eased relegation fears.

But a defeat by Ayr today and they would be back level with the third-bottom visitors - and back firmly in the mix.

Ayr initially improved under their new boss, Lee Bullen, but they have now lost three of last four outings and have yet to beat today's hosts in three games this season, losing the latest 2-0 at home in January after two draws.

Hamilton Academical v Queen of the South (15:00)

A run of just one defeat in eight outings has come too late to lift Hamilton Academical into promotion contention, but it has eased fears of a second consecutive relegation.

Visitors Queen of the South had their own revival after veteran winger Willie Gibson took over after the sacking of Allan Johnson, but three consecutive defeats and they have fallen three points behind Dunfermline Athletic at the bottom of the table.

The Dumfries side have also lost all three meetings with Accies this season.

  5. Can surprise guys keep up chase?published at 14:34 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Arbroath v Raith Rovers (15:00)

Arbroath's surprise rise to the top of the second tier seemed to become shaky the minute manager Dick Campbell finally admitted that the part-timers were genuine title contenders.

However, after a five-game run without a win, they have won two of their last three and remain hot on the heels of Kilmarnock as they host stuttering Raith Rovers.

The Kirkcaldy side's promotion challenge appears to have been hampered by the furore over the controversial signing of striker David Goodwillie from Clyde and they desperately need a win after falling three points behind Partick Thistle in the final play-off place.

  7. Former Benfica youth in Clyde debutpublished at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Queen's Park v Clyde (15:00)

Former Benfica youth Monday Samuel could be handed a surprise Saturday debut in League 1 after the 28-year-old Nigerian with Swedish citizenship signed for Clyde yesterday until the end of the season.

The midfielder worked under former Clyde boss Billy Reid, who was assistant to Graham Potter at Ostersunds as they won promotion to Sweden's top flight before becoming a first-team regular under Henrik Larsson at Helsingborgs then spending the most recent campaign with Malmo.

Not a bad pedigree, but he is on the bench against Queen's Park today!

  8. Coyle returns to lead Spiderspublished at 14:24 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Queen's Park v Clyde (15:00)

Owen Coyle is back in Scottish football, stating "it was time for me to come home" after ending his spell in the Indian Super League to become Queen's Park's next head coach.

The much-travelled 55-year-old doesn't officially take over the League 1 side until 1 June.

But an agreement with Jamshedpur, who he led to their first League Shield this month before they missed out on the Indian Super League final after a play-off defeat, means he is able to help Spiders caretaker boss Marijn Beuker in their promotion push.

Will he be in the dugout today though as Queen's Park host sixth-placed Clyde as they look to hold off Falkirk and secure fourth spot and a play-off semi-final? He's certainly present at Firhill.

Elsewhere in League 1, under-achieving full-timers Falkirk are looking to close the three-point gap with Queen's Park in the final promotion play-off spot and will fancy their chances of a win away to third-bottom Peterhead, who have lost four games on the trot.

Having pulled themselves 10-points clear of Dumbarton in the relegation play-off spot, Clyde probably think they can now look up rather than down.

Danny Lennon's sixth-placed side travel to Firhill, the home of traditional rivals Partick Thistle, needing a win to retain an outside chance of closing the seven points between themselves and lodgers Queen's Park in the third promotion play-off spot.

Dumbarton host a Montrose side safe in third-place hoping to avoid a sixth consecutive loss and stay three points clear of improved bottom side East Fife, who host Alloa Athletic.

  10. Kelty poised for title partypublished at 14:16 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Scottish League 2

It could be a big day for Kelty Hearts with Kevin Thomson's SPFL newcomers within touching distance of immediate promotion.

Going into today with a 13-point lead, the Fifers will be crowned League 2 champions if they defeat visitors Stenhousemuir and second-top Annan Athletic fail to win at home to Albion Rovers.

Kelty's inevitable march to League 1 has been slowed by two consecutive goalless draws away from home, but they remain unbeaten in seven outings and have won all three meetings with Stenny this season.

Indeed, the visitors are without a win in three and have dropped down to fifth and out of the promotion play-off spots.

Annan will fancy their chances of keeping Kelty waiting considering they have won four games in a row, although the visiting Rovers are unbeaten in three themselves.

Meanwhile, third-top Forfar Athletic host bottom side Cowdenbeath and Stirling Albion entertain Stranraer.

  11. Game of day in third tierpublished at 14:12 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Airdrieonians v Cove Rangers (15:00)

Scotland's third tier features arguably the game of the day as second-top Airdrieonians host leaders Cove Rangers.

With only six games to go and trailing by five points, the Diamonds know that a failure to make home advantage tell will almost certainly hand the title and automatic promotion to the Aberdeen side.

After a sticky spell of draws, Paul Hartley's leaders are back on form, remain unbeaten in 20 league games and are seeking a fourth consecutive victory.

However, Ian Murray's hosts are themselves on a run of three straight wins, are unbeaten in nine outings and will take confidence from their 1-1 draw at Balmoral Stadium when they last met in February - and their 3-2 home win in last season's promotion play-off semi-final.

Cove, though, won the two meetings in between.

  12. Killie on form with Thistle title bubble burstpublished at 14:08 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Kilmarnock v Partick Thistle (15:00)

Derek McInnes' side have hit form just at the right time and three wins in a row have taken Kilmarnock two points clear of surprise guys Arbroath in what is now a two-horse race for the Championship title.

Ian McCall's visiting Partick Thistle have been going in the opposite direction after three consecutive defeats but remain in fourth as they are now resigned to a promotion play-off place at best.

The sides drew 1-1 at Firhill in January, while the away team won both their previous match-ups this season.
