Gary Gardner has doubled the lead for Birmingham in the Midlands derby.

Marc Roberts sends a long throw in straight into the penalty box, and up jumps Gardner, completely unmarked, to send a thumping header into the back of the net.

You have to wonder where the Coventry defence there.

    Sheffield United 0-1 Reading

Lucas Joao almost has his second for Reading.

Ovie Ejaria picks up a poor pass from the Blades in midfield and slots it right through the middle to Joao. He steps over the ball, moves it onto his left foot, all the while holding off the Sheffield United defenders, but his shot hits the post and agonisingly rolls wide.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Middlesbrough

Bournemouth certainly look the stronger of these two sides as we edge towards the break.

Philip Billing lets fly from a free-kick but sends his effort over the top of the Middlesbrough goal.

Not the most riveting of games, this.

  5. Postpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 15 April 2022

    Swansea 0-0 Barnsley

Swansea have had almost all of the possession as it stands half an hour in, but it's Barnsley who have had the majority of the chances - five so far with three on target.

But with Reading already eight points ahead of them before kick-off, they really need to make one of those chances count before too long and avoid that gap becoming even bigger.

This looks harsh to me but Blackburn have a goal disallowed.

John Buckley whips in a cross from the right into the path of Ben Brereton-Diaz who dutifully heads home from close range.
