  1. County players should be proud - Mackaypublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    Aberdeen v Ross County (15:00)

Ross County manager Malky Mackay tells BBC Sportsound: "It's quite a position for six or seven clubs to find themselves in. Pretty exciting for Scottish football. It shows the tightness of the league all year.

"As far as we're concerned, I always like coming here. It'll be two teams trying to win the game. I've not been looking at anything else this week. My focus has purely been on Aberdeen and how they are going to play.

"We've got to be at it from minute one. The players should be really proud of the team they've become this season. To be in the mix with Aberdeen and Hibs is credit to them."

  2. 'Hearts looking to put down a marker'published at 14:44 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

Heart of Midlothian v Hibernian (15:00)

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson tells BBC Sportsound: "When that whistle goes, no-one is thinking about league positions or European money, it's a derby, it's about winning it and sending your own fans home happy.

"Winning the derby is massive for the club. We want to win them all. We've drawn two of them back-to-back now and, if we can win at Tynecastle, we can put down a marker."

Hearts also face Hibs in next weekend's Scottish Cup semi-final.

"There's no thought about next week," Neilson adds. "About resting players, that's just utter nonsense. It's about winning the game today."

  3. McKay makes his markpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

Heart of Midlothian v Hibernian (15:00)

Barrie McKay signed a new three-year contract with Hearts yesterday, having initially agreed a two-year deal when arriving in September after his exit from Swansea City, and it was reward for the winger's excellent recent form.

No player has been directly involved in more Premiership goals in 2022, with the winger, who has two goals and six assists, either scoring or assisting 50% of Hearts' 16 league goals this year so far.

  4. Added Dundee derby incentivepublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    Dundee United v Dundee (15:00)

It's the most significant Tayside derby since United were relegated after a defeat by their city rivals in May 2016 - and it will have implications at both ends of the table.

Win and bottom side Dundee will, unless St Johnstone can cause a shock in Glasgow, move to within three points of St Johnstone and possibly deny United a place in the top six.

Lose or draw and United are assured of finishing in the top half, leaving their neighbours in an almost impossible position at the foot of the table.

Although United have gone three home games without a win, history is in their favour, having not lost to Dundee in 11 meetings at Tannadice since August 2004.

If you think it's United to win, give a thumbs up below, thumbs down for Dundee.

  5. Giakoumakis hunts another hat-trickpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    Celtic v St Johnstone (15:00)

Giorgios Giakoumakis retains his place up top for Celtic despite that return from injury by Kyogo Furuhashi.

Seven of the Greek striker's eight Premiership goals have come at Celtic Park, scoring a hat-trick in both of his last two home league games.

The last player to score three hat-tricks (home and away) within a single Scottish top-flight season was Anthony Stokes for Falkirk in 2006-07.

  6. Important to keep focus - Postecogloupublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    Celtic v St Johnstone (15:00)

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou tells BBC Sportsound: "For us, it's just about continuing to play our football and focus on the key principles that got us into this position in the first place.

"It's a tough game and a good challenge for us. But we've had many of those recently and overcome them."

On Japan striker Kyogo Furuhashi's return from injury, he adds: "He's a popular guy. When we talk about that early part of the season when things were difficult, it was Kyogo, Dave Turnbull and others who were carrying that front load in terms of goals and assists.

"That's not lost on the boys. It gives everyone a lift and given him a lift for sure and he's a hell of a player, so it's great to have him back out there."

  7. Seven-team, top-six racepublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    Scottish Premiership

The permutations for the Premiership's seven top-six hopefuls, who are separated by only four points, are almost endless and you can find those by clicking here.

To cut a long story short, Ross County, hosts Aberdeen and Livingston all need to win then hope results elsewhere go their way.

Dundee United, Motherwell and Hibs could all still make the top six with defeat if other scores are in their favour, but they won't want to rely on others doing them a favour.

Only wins for Hibs and County, plus a winner in the Livingston v Motherwell game, plus a goal difference swing, could deny United if they lose in their derby.

St Mirren could be out of the running by the time they host Rangers tomorrow.

  8. Doomsday for Cowdenbeath?published at 14:31 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    Scottish League 2

Already crowned champions Kelty Hearts are looking to stretch their nine-game unbeaten run as they host a Stirling Albion side still with an outside chance of a promotion play-off place

After nine games without a win, bottom side Cowdenbeath need one desperately to add to three straight draws away to second-top Annan Athletic - then hope Elgin City fail to take a point against visitors Stenhousemuir - to avoid being confirmed in the relegation play-off place.

But game of the day is fourth-top Edinburgh City, without a win in four games under new manager Alan Maybury, hosting third-placed Forfar Athletic, who are unbeaten in four.

  9. Fifers on brinkpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    Scottish League 1

Third-tier leaders Cove Rangers are unbeaten in five outings as they look to maintain their three-point lead and visit faltering, fifth-top Falkirk, who find themselves seven points outside the promotion play-off places.

Game of the day, though, is at Montrose, where it is third against second-top Airdrieonians, who are unbeaten in 11 games.

After three straight defeats, East Fife will find themselves officially relegated if they lose away to fourth-placed Queen's Park while second-bottom Dumbarton win at home to the side a place above them - Peterhead.

  10. Chance for Kilmarnock consolidationpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    Scottish Championship

There's also some big games in the second tier, where Kilmarnock will be hopeful of stretching their lead at the top considering they are unbeaten in five outings and host a Dunfermline Athletic side sitting second bottom.

However, the Pars have only once in five and will look to capitalise on bottom side Queen of the South's defeat at home to Partick Thistle last night.

Second-top Arbroath's title challenge has stumbled after two draws and they face a difficult trip to face improving Hamilton Academical, who are unbeaten in four.

Third bottom hosts third top as Ayr United, without a win in four, face Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who are seeking a fourth straight win.

Meanwhile, Raith Rovers will look to restore the six-point gap between themselves and Thistle as they entertain a Greenock Morton side unbeaten in four after three straight draws.

  11. That walkpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    Dundee United v Dundee (15:00)

One of the things that is perhaps unique to the Dundee derby, certainly in Scotland, is that the opposition walk from their own ground to their opponents.

And Dundee made the stroll down the street to Tannadice earlier, as you can see below.

  12. Captain Adam starts for Dundeepublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    Dundee United v Dundee (15:00)

It is as you were for Tam Courts as he names the same side that drew 1-1 with Hibernian last weekend.

United have used a league-high 38 different players in the Scottish Premiership this season, so expect the players on the bench to make be utilised by Courts at some point.

Two changes for Mark McGhee as Dundee go searching for what would be only their second win in 18.

Captain Charlie Adam returned to action last weekend as a substitute and is back in from the start alongside fellow midfielder Max Anderson as striker Zak Rudden and wide man Christie Elliott drop to the bench.

  13. Kyogo fit for Celtic; Saints' Ciftci misses outpublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    Celtic v St Johnstone (15:00)

Celtic welcome back Kyogo Furuhashi for the first time since the Japan striker aggravated a hamstring injury on Boxing Day.

The Japanese forward is on the bench, while the starting XI is the same one that claimed victory at Ibrox on Sunday.

St Johnstone make three changes from their win at Livingston. Tony Gallacher is out for the season, while fellow defender Dan Cleary drops to the bench and former Celtic striker Nadir Ciftci is out of the squad.

In come James Brown, Callum Booth and on-loan Rangers winger Glen Middleton.

  14. Dons make two changes; County unchangedpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    Aberdeen v Ross County (15:00)

Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin makes two changes to the team that drew 2-2 at Dens Park. Right-back Calvin Ramsay and forward Connor McLennan drop out, with Marley Watkins and Funso Ojo coming in.

County welcome back midfielders David Cancola and Jack Burroughs following their recent absences, but both have to make do with a place on the bench as Malky MacKay names the same starting XI from the draw with Hearts.

  15. Atkinson in Hearts start, Macey in Hibs returnpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

Heart of Midlothian v Hibernian (15:00)

Hearts are boosted by the return of right-back Nathaniel Atkinson and winger Gary Mackay-Steven, although the latter has to make do with a place on the bench.

From the team that drew 1-1 away to Ross County, Aaron McEneff drops to the bench to make way for Atkinson, but other than that it is as you were for the home side.

Hibs manager Shaun Maloney welcomes back goalkeeper Matt Macey following his recent muscle problem and Kevin Dabrowski drops to the bench.

Sylvester Jasper is the other change for Hibs, the Bulgarian forward replaced in the starting XI with midfielder Drey Wright.

  16. O'Donnell missing for Wellpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    Livingston v Motherwell (15:00)

David Martindale makes two changes to the Livingston side that are bidding for their third top six finish in a row.

Sean Kelly replaces Stephane Omeonga in midfield, with Odin Bailey starting in the front three as United States international Sebastian Soto drops to the bench.

Just the one change for Motherwell, as captain Stephen O'Donnell misses out through injury and is replaced with Jake Carroll at right-back.

So close to that elusive consecutive starting XI.
