  1. Not going to plan for Cherriespublished at 19:54 British Summer Time 26 April 2022

    Swansea 1-0 Bournemouth

Only Fulham have taken more away points in the Championship this season than Bournemouth, who know victory tonight would put them within touching distance of a return to the Premier League.

Bournemouth have two games in hand on the nearest challengers, Huddersfield, but Nottingham Forest remain firmly in the top-two race as things stand.

A Cherries defeat coupled with a Forest victory tonight would make things very interesting.

The job for Scott Parker's team tonight is to secure away league win number 12 of 2021-22 - and they are off to the worst possible start thanks to Joel Piroe's emphatic finish.

Swansea, who are unbeaten in eight, do not look like a team who are already thinking about summer holidays.

This is a goal that won't help Bournemouth's promotion charge..

Joel Piroe starts Swansea's press into the Cherries' half and after Michael Obafemi and Cyrus Christie combine, the ball falls back to Piroe who fires in from inside the box.

Good news for Fulham, that. They could win the Championship title tonight.

An early goal at Highbury, and it goes without saying, a big one!

Super work from Lee Gregory as he brings down a ball in the box, takes it past his marker and confidently strokes it past the goalkeeper.

Good news for AFC Wimbledon and Doncaster - they will not be relegated with this score.

Sheffield Wednesday currently up to fourth.

Seven matches across Leagues One and Two this evening and 10 out of the 14 teams with something at stake in either promotion or relegation. You have to love this stage of the season!

Nerves are bound to be jangling with everything on the line, so what have fans been doing all day (besides work) to not let the nerves get the better of them?

I'm not emotionally involved with any of them, but I can imagine the tension. So I went out and cut the back garden!

  9. Can Exeter follow Forest Green to promotion?published at 19:39 British Summer Time 26 April 2022

League Two preview (all 19:45 BST kick-offs)

All eyes will be on St James Park, where Exeter will go up from League Two with victory over a Barrow side who have secured their own safety.

If Exeter were to fall to a surprise defeat, already-promoted Forest Green would all-but secure the title if they win at play-off chasing Swindon.

Elsewhere, Mansfield and Sutton sit in the final two play-off spots and host Stevenage and Crawley respectively.

Just the three games in League One tonight, yet quite a bit could happen.

Wigan can win promotion with a point at Portsmouth and will win the League One title if they better Rotherham’s result against fourth-placed Sunderland.

If Fleetwood avoid defeat against play-off contenders Sheffield Wednesday, Doncaster and AFC Wimbledon will be relegated without playing.

    A big game, this.

Fulham are already promoted and welcome play-off chasing Nottingham Forest knowing that victory could help them clinch the Championship title.

That rests on them bettering the result of Bournemouth, who travel to face Swansea.

Meanwhile, Forest will clinch their spot in the play-offs if they can come back from the capital with a point.

  12. Cherries ever so close to promotionpublished at 19:31 British Summer Time 26 April 2022

    Swansea v Bournemouth (19:45 BST)

It's tight at the top of the Championship and Bournemouth are so close to the finish line.

Victory against Swansea this evening would send them ever so close to a return to the Premier League.

The Cherries have two games in hand on third-placed Huddersfield so, although anything other than victory tonight wouldn't be the end of the world, they'd still get another bite of the...cherry, later this season.

    I'll get my coat.

  13. Tykes looking for a late bit of glorypublished at 19:28 British Summer Time 26 April 2022

    Barnsley v Blackpool (19:45 BST)

Of tonight's three Championship fixtures, this one has the least riding on it.

Barnsley are already consigned to relegation to League One, while Blackpool can neither go down or reach the play-offs.

The Tykes are currently without a head coach after Poya Asbaghi left the club last week following their relegation.

Could they claw back some glory with victory this evening?

Three Championship fixtures to get stuck into this evening:

    • Fulham v Nottingham Forest
    • Swansea v Bournemouth

Meanwhile there's also a host of League One and League Two fixtures to get excited about.
