Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool (Liverpool win 6-5 on pens)

    Liverpool

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson on BBC Two: "We're here to lift trophies, we work so hard all season. To come here and get over the line means a lot to everyone. The fans deserve it, the whole club.

"It's a big moment for us, we haven't been in this final for some time so to win it was special.

"It was difficult, we knew it would be. We've had so many games in a short space of time. It was a big blow with Mo going off and Fab last week. But that's what we're all about, the attitude and mentality to keep going and to dig in when it's tough. So to win it on penalties is incredible. All credit to the boys.

"It's fine margins, especially in finals, as we know in the last two. We've just got to give everything like we always do. We've got to work for each other and play with the players that we've got. It's incredible some of the talent we have got in the dressing room and the personalities. You put that together and you win trophies really.

"We've won two so far this season. We've still got some big games left. We just need to keep on going right until the end and see what we can finish on.

"We've got to recover quickly, another big game on Tuesday against Southampton, we have to be ready for that. And then Wolves at the weekend to finish the Premier League season off and then the Champions League final.

"We have three big games left and hopefully we can win all three and finish the season on a high."

    Liverpool

Liverpool match-winner Konstantinos Tsimikas, speaking to BBC Two: "We gave it absolutely everything. Big congratulations to the boys. We have to celebrate hard. But tomorrow is the next day, we still have a lot to do. We have the games in the Premier League and we have the big final.

"It's very, very special for me. The manager asked me which number I want. I say number seven. He asks me why so far? I say I want number seven. And number seven gave me the opportunity to win the game. I choose the right side and I score. And I am very happy with that.

"We want to win. Our goal from the start of the season was to go for it, hopefully at the end we are happy.

"I am not the 'Greek Scouser', I am the 'Scouser Greek'.

"We have to celebrate now, but still in our minds we have the upcoming games. We have to be 100% focused if we want to achieve our goals."

Jurgen Klopp said on the eve of the final there would be little time to celebrate if Liverpool did win the FA Cup for the first time in 16 years.

They may have two trophies in the bag but they remain in the hunt for another two.

The Reds boss is allowing his players to celebrate this moment, however, before thoughts switch to Southampton away on Tuesday.

Luis Diaz has the FA Cup's removable lid on his head.

There are bottles and bottles of champagne being sprayed as the players pose for a team photo with the trophy.

It's more than half an hour since Konstantinos Tsimikas' penalty secured victory and thousands and thousands of Liverpool fans are partying hard inside Wembley.

  11. 'Two teams of mentality monsters' - Klopppublished at 20:09 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool (5-6 on pens)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to BBC Two: "Outstanding, it was an incredible, intense game against Chelsea – they would have deserved it [the win] exactly the same way, like in the Carabao Cup – that’s how small the margins are.

"I couldn’t be more proud of my boys, the shift they put in, how hard they fought, early changes. I think Virgil is fine but his muscle was hurt.

"All of these things, missing good chances, overcoming good moments from Chelsea, then having really good moments ourselves.

"Then in the penalty shootout, it was nerve-racking, my nails are gone but I really feel for Chelsea – for the second time, 120 minutes and you get nothing, that’s too hard. But for us I’m pretty happy.

"We are mentality monsters but there were mentality monsters in blue as well – it was one penalty. Chelsea played outstanding but in the end there must be one winner and that was us today."

  14. 'I just had to save one'published at 19:58 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

FT: Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool (5-6 on pens)

    Liverpool

Liverpool keeper Alisson on BBC One: "It's amazing, we did such a good performance. It was a shame we didn't score. It was a proper fight, we kept a clean sheet, and then afterwards the boys were unbelievable scoring the goals. I just had to save the last one.

"I am so happy. Myself and also Mendy did amazing saves. I couldn't have done the saves without the help of the team. They work well and make it easier for me.

[On his penalty save] "It was good hey? All goalkeeper coaches they help me with the decisions. They are fantastic players, Chelsea did really well but we deserved to win this. I only make the save because we deserved to win this.

"This gives us more confidence in the Premier League and also the Champions League final. It's a fantastic moment now, we just need to enjoy"
