This season represents the first time that the same two teams have met in both the League Cup final and FA Cup final in the same season since 1992-93.

That campaign (which was also the first Premier League season), saw Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday contest the final of both competitions. The Gunners were victorious in both, becoming the first side to win the two English cup competitions in the same season.

The League Cup is notorious for Tony Adams picking up the scorer of the winning goal - Steve Morrow - and dropping him, causing him to break his arm and miss the FA Cup win.

    Lawro's prediction: 0-2

Usually with cup finals, I expect them to be really tight with extra time and maybe even penalties - like we saw when these two teams met at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final in February.

This time, though, I think Liverpool will win it pretty comfortably, and in normal time too, just because Chelsea are not at their best right now.

I know Chelsea beat Leeds easily enough on Wednesday but I didn't see that as them returning to form. It was because Leeds had a player sent off.

I was at Villa Park on Tuesday to watch Liverpool. They had some good moments, and a few ordinary ones but they still won.

They are going through a bit of a patch where they are not at their very best, but they have still taken four points from their past two games - their record this year is still just amazing.

So, Liverpool are favourites for me. They will be without the injured Fabinho, which is a blow, but Jordan Henderson will just come in there. Up front they can go with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz.

That's a forward line to win a cup final, because I don't see Chelsea keeping them out.

Paul's prediction: This is a shout-out to my barber, Wayne, at People's Barbers in Nottingham. He is a massive Liverpool fan - I just went in for my pre-fight haircut and the cup final was a massive topic of conversation. He was adamant they would win it and get to the next stage of their quadruple bid.

A cup game is like a fight - both of them end up with someone being knocked out. You can prepare for it and do everything right but it is a one-off that comes down to who performs best on the day, and I feel like Liverpool will have the edge. 1-2

What a day for non-league striker and PE teacher Adam Boyes.

The 31-year-old has been invited to lead Chelsea and Liverpool out at Wembley after scoring more goals than anyone else in the FA Cup this season.

Boyes scored 11 times as eighth-tier Marske United reached the fourth qualifying round stage.

"You watch the top scorer list go up every round and you see yourself near the top and you see people get knocked out and you think, 'I might have a chance here'," says Boyes.

"I think I've won it now unless Sadio Mane scores eight or nine in the final."

"The boys lift themselves. The wins and competitions keep us going. Let's go from here, there are really important games coming up for us, especially this one today. It's a massive one.

"We have to show real desire in these moments because Chelsea are a world-class team. But that is normal in finals."

    Chelsea v Liverpool (16:45 BST)

Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool want to win another trophy for their fans, even though they won't be able to celebrate if they beat Chelsea.

After Saturday's FA Cup final, Liverpool return to Premier League action three days later with a trip to Southampton.

Klopp said: "It's a busy season, but it will never happen that the FA Cup is just a normal game. It's a special game and, for some, the biggest in their career. We want to enjoy it and deliver for our people.

"We couldn't celebrate the Carabao Cup because we played three days later. If we win FA Cup it's the same. We had a parade with Dortmund when we won the cup. It was big. Now we play Southampton instead of a possible parade.

"I've never won the FA Cup before and most of my players have never won it before. We are really looking forward to this opportunity.

"The boys worked their socks off to arrive here, with all the different challenges over the year.

"It's now a massive final for us and I'm really happy we are part of it. We always gave our all to arrive to the final [previously], we just didn't make it."

This is Jan Tore Bjerkrheim's 102nd Liverpool match and his scarf was attracting plenty of attention on Wembley Way earlier.

His first Liverpool game was in 1974 against Stoke City at Anfield and he travelled to that match from Oslo on boat and train.

He flew into London for this final on Friday and he will be returning to Norway before flying to Liverpool next Friday for the Reds' final Premier League game of the season against Wolves next Sunday.

It’s been a frustrating time for Romelu Lukaku but he started the season very well and he’s still Chelsea’s top scorer despite missing a number of games.

We know what he can do. Chelsea getting balls into the box is key to his way of playing. It’s early balls he feeds off, whether that is early balls in behind or coming in from wide positions.

He’s found form again in the last couple of games and is scoring goals again.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel refused to rule out again introducing Kepa Arrizabalaga from the bench if Saturday's FA Cup final against Liverpool goes to penalties.

Tuchel brought Kepa on in place of the outstanding Edouard Mendy shortly before the end of extra time when the Carabao Cup final against Jurgen Klopp's side was decided on spot-kicks.

The Spaniard failed to save a penalty, then missed with his own effort, as Liverpool won the trophy.

But asked if he had made any plans in the event of a repeat at Wembley, Tuchel said: “I will not tell you. I have an opinion about it. If it comes, you will see.

"In approaching the match, we always say: 'Let’s see how the game goes and if we still have the change available.'

"It is never done before. We have a plan of what we can do. I’m a bit torn in how much you can practise."

The FA Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool will go the distance through extra time and penalties, according to former England captain Alan Shearer.

Liverpool won the Carabao Cup 11-10 on penalties against Chelsea back in February and Shearer believes another tight game is in prospect.

"These sides have played each other three times this season and there have been three draws," he said on BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast.

"I'm going for a long afternoon and evening once again, extra time and penalties and, sorry Chelsea fans, I think Liverpool might nick it again."

Both sides have endured arduous seasons, with Chelsea winning the Club World Cup and Liverpool competing on all four fronts, but Shearer dismissed any suggestions tiredness may play a part.

"You're not telling me players will be tired going into an FA Cup final," he said.

"When you look at the size of their squads and the number of quality players each side has, it's more about the options available to the managers.

"I can't wait for the atmosphere of a full Wembley."
