The athleticism and hunger and desire, the desire to put yourself on the line and do anything you can for your team.

The jobs Sam Kerr does off the ball for the team is remarkable. To have someone like that in your team is amazing.

Short and sweet from Kerr as she runs off to celebrate with her Chelsea teammates, rightly so.

Former Arsenal and Reading midfielder on BBC Two

Manchester City had injuries which really didn't help this team earlier in the season, but they have picked themselves up and they showed today that they can go toe to toe with the best team in the WSL and it was a showcase.

They'll be disappointed with the result but they will be back next season. They will recruit and be back stronger next season.

I lost the FA Cup three times on the bounce before winning it and it is a horrible feeling - it's the only horrible thing about being in an FA Cup final is that one team has to lose.

  17. 'Proud to end the season on such a high'published at 17:15 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

FT: Chelsea 3-2 Man City (Chelsea win the FA Cup)

    Chelsea

Chelsea player of the match Erin Cuthbert speaking to BBC Sport:

"I struggle to find words to sum that up, what a performance, 120 minutes and we knew it would be a tough slog for us. Especially when you lose a goal five minutes from time it does take the wind out of you, you have to regroup and we had to dig deep and find a level that we've not found in ourselves before.

"I don't score goals like that but it's an amazing honour. I thought it was going to be a winning goal and it wasn't, Sam's [Kerr] was just as important, it took a deflection and it doesn't matter what the goal looks like as long as it goes in. If they go in like that Wembley I'm happy.

"So many times this year we have been faced with adversity, covid, injuries, we've had to use the squad, we used the squad today and I'm proud to end it on such a high."

You could see how gruelling that was for the Chelsea players as they all fell to the floor at full-time in relief more than anything. They are relentless in their hunt for silverware and that's the second trophy won in seven days. No matter what City threw at them, they dug in and got the job done.

And Sam Kerr... again. Who else?
