From the corner, Olivier Giroud hooks a sort of bicycle kick back into the mixer and Dayot Upamecano and Wojciech Szczesny clatter into each other while going for the ball. Everyone is fine and there's no penalty shouts or cards or anything. They just got back on with it.

Seconds later, Matty Cash is left on the ground by a Kylian Mbappe side-step but his shot is deflected into the side netting.

Wojciech Szczesny has had a couple of routine saves. There's been nothing really clear-cut for the French so far.

The issue France have is that Antoine Griezmann doesn't press.

Piotr Zielinski finds Matty Cash in space out on the right. The Aston Villa right-back, outside the box and at an angle, just decides to smack it first time and it goes well wide. It was ambitious, I'll say that.
