Argentina have lost all their composure. What a game. We were so close and then Mbappe turned up.

It has been an absolute body blow for them to deal with these two goals whereas the belief is there for France. Argentina have just got to get to extra-time and regroup.

Huge credit to Deschamps. He was watching a beaten side and he changed things up. He did everything he could do as a manager from the sidelines and he has demanded more.

You cannot question the quality in the biggest of moments from one of the biggest players in the world to get his country back into the game. He's an absolute superstar. He was just waiting. His team were not there with him but the changes added some energy, some belief into the side.

If Argentina lose this it will be down to a failure to make any real effort to kill the game off when so much in control.

The image above shows France's expected goals on the left - with the larger yellow circle his equalising goal from the penalty spot and the smaller yellow circle his stunning volley to make it 2-2.

The image below is his last five penalty kicks - number five was the one that beat Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

Thuram is nodding which indicates to me that he did dive. Fernandez has a nibble but he pulls it out the way. It's a dive, Thuram leaves his leg there.

    SCREAMS FOR A FRANCE PENALTY!!!!

    NO!

Marcus Thuram goes down following a tackle in the Argentina box but the ref awards a free-kick in the opposite direction.

He's spot on too. It was a dive.

    Woowee.

    Chris Bevan

Stunning... absolutely stunning. The France fans have been sitting silently in their seats for most of this match but they are making all the noise now...

We all love a Diego Maradona reference - when Argentina won the 1986 World Cup they were cruising at 2-0 in the final until West Germany scored two late goals in quick succession to equalise.

History just repeated itself... but in '86, Argentina recovered and got an even later winner. It's anyone's guess who will take this one now.

Well they were out of it, they were finished but when you have got world class talent in your team, you have always got a chance. That is sensational. A finish to die for. It was Messi who lost the ball. What a finish from Mbappe, pure and struck with quality. The gamble has paid off.
