    More French changes.

Eduardo Camavinga and Kingsley Coman are on for Antoine Griezmann and Theo Hernandez.

Can they alter the complexion of this in any way? They have 18 minutes to rescue France.

There is suddenly a tiny bit of life in France. Like the twitch of a big toe. Play is happening in the Argentine half at least.

They're still not hurting Argentina, though.

It's worth noting that France's biggest defeat under Didier Deschamps was a 3-0 friendly defeat to Brazil in Porto Alegre in June 2013.

They have STILL not had a shot on target in this match...

Angel di Maria had played just eight minutes in the knockout stages before tonight's final.

He's just gone off after 65 minutes having scored and produced a performance worthy of a Man of the Match nomination.

His heatmap above shows how involved he was, while Kylian Mbappe below has had a much quieter evening...

I was about to say that France are huffing a puffing to try and make something happen. But I'm not sure that's even happening.

The second-half has been a bit of a non-event so far, because Argentina are holding the France forehead at arm's length, watching them flail tame punches.

  16. 'Di Maria played his part to perfection'published at 16:28 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2022

    Argentina 2-0 France

Di Maria has been terrific. Played his part to perfection. He has been razor sharp down the left, causing France problem after problem. He's getting the heroes welcome from his team-mates and rightly so.

It's quite hard to watch this French side now, how on earth did they beat us in the quarters. Can't help thinking that Argentina v Morocco would have been a more entertaining final.

If ever a man deserved a standing ovation...

Angel di Maria departs to be replaced by Marcos Acuna. It's a defensive sub. Argentina happy to hold what they have.

I mean, to be fair, France haven't threatened them at all.
