Gareth Bale is on a World Cup mission.

He's done it again for Wales, he's put them within sight of Qatar with a left-footed beauty over the wall.

Honestly, there is nothing this man cannot do for his country.

Former Wales defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I don't know whether this is a ball into the box or a shot?

It is a diving header from Yarmolenko that takes it into his own net but nobody in this stadium cares.

We've just been saying that someone needed to do something.

Well there is a man wearing number 11 who really can do something. He just has.

    Gareth Bale

The main man produces on the main stage once again.

Dan James wins a free-kick on the edge of the area and Gareth Bale fires a thunderous effort towards goal.

Ukraine captain Andriy Yarmolenko tries to block the effort, but instead deflects it into his own net.

Wales won't care about that, and the Cardiff City Stadium is bouncing.

I am getting a bit nervous now because Wales are living dangerously.

Ukraine's movement and the patterns in there is causing us a huge problem.

I love Joe Allen, but right now he does look very nervous.

Every time he gets the ball he's either taking too many touches or taking too long to release the pass.

Everton defender Vitaliy Mykolenko elbows Dan James as the Leeds winger looks to start a counter attack.

    Wales are living dangerously.

Oleksandr Zinchenko wins possession on the edge of the Wales box, Joe Allen uncharacteristically giving the ball away.

Wayne Hennessey, who has had a busy half hour, once again parries away the effort.

Minutes later Roman Yaremchuk is almost in, but the ball bounces quickly off the slippery surface and Hennessey punches the ball to safety.

Massive chance for Viktor Tsyhankov who races clear, only to curl his effort wide or the right post with just Wayne Hennessey to beat.

The offside flag eventually goes up, but replays suggest he may have just been onside.

I would exercise patience, that's what Rob Page would be saying.

On this slick pitch, just keep passing it around the back, even if you're not in your own half, because it tires out the opposition.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is the latest player to try his luck from distance, but Aaron Ramsey blocks the shot.

Heorhiy Bushchan still looks in a level of discomfort, as the Ukrainian bench continue to check if he is happy to continue.

    Wales 0-0 Ukraine

More nervy moments for Wales as Ukraine get into the Welsh box.

Viktor Tsyhankov crosses across the box to Vyacheslav Karavaev, who miss-hits the ball at the first attempt before his second bite at it is deflected in the air and caught by Wayne Hennessey.

Gareth Bale looks absolutely disgusted that he missed from 40 yards!

A slight break in play as Ukraine goalkeeper Heorhiy Bushchan seems to have hurt his ankle during his attempted punch.

He is back on his feet though and looks like he wants to continue.

Gareth Bale fires a shot from distance but it sails high and wide.

    Wales have had some warnings.

We knew they have to be defensively strong. If they lose the ball they have to quickly get back into that defensive shape.

They have got to use Kieffer Moore, he is there for a reason.

Wales win another corner and from the resulting cross Ukraine goalkeeper Heorhiy Bushchan once again gets his attempted punch all wrong.

Thankfully for him Kieffer Moore was offside.

The game is just settling down now. Both sides feeling each other out. Ukraine with more possession, trying to break Wales down and Wales looking comfortable in their shape.

    Wales 0-0 Ukraine

Wales pinch the ball back in the Ukraine half, they will be happy to keep the ball for a few minutes after seeing very little of it up to now.

Ukraine are keeping their shape though, making it difficult for Wales to muster up any chances.
