Bullen to hammer nail in Pars' fate?published at 19:20 British Summer Time 29 April 2022
Ayr United v Partick Thistle (19:45)
Hosts Ayr enter a game of significance at both ends of the table without a win in seven outings, but four draws during that run have been enough to keep Lee Bullen's side one point ahead of Dunfermline in the battle to avoid a relegation play-off.
It could all come down to goal difference, goals scored or Dunfermline's better head-to-head record should the Pars draw at home to relegated Queens and Ayr, who have had a dismal run of seven home games without a victory, draw as they look to avoid a semi-final against Queen’s Park, who finished fourth in League 1.
Thistle have just about stumbled over the promotion play-off finishing line to secure a quarter-final place thanks to last week’s home win over Dunfermline - only their second in eight outings.
Bar a defeat and a Raith win over Kilmarnock, plus an eight-goal swing in goal difference, Ian McCall's side will be facing Inverness in Tuesday's first leg.
Indeed, the Glasgow side travel down the west coast having beaten Ayr three times already this season without conceding while scoring nine, including a 4-0 win on last visit in November.
