Wednesday have taken the sting out of it a bit.
It's a night for calm heads and composure in what is a terrific atmosphere on Wearside.
Sunderland 0-0 Sheff Wed
Patrick Roberts wins a corner for the home side after a good sliding block from Sam Hutchinson from his low cross.
The first corner leads to a second one and that one eventually hits Danny Batth and bounces out for a goalkick.
Sunderland 0-0 Sheff Wed
The home side just feeling their way into it with some decent possession in midfield but they can't carve out a shooting opportunity.
In 24-goal striker Ross Stewart they've got a player who has already scored a hat-trick against Wednesday this season.
Sunderland 0-0 Sheff Wed
First opening for the home side.
Patrick Roberts latches on to Ross Stewart's knock down and advances on goal.
He hits his shot well enough but straight down Bailey Peacock-Farrell's throat.

The away side win a free-kick in a wide area as Luke O'Nien fouls Barry Bannan.
It was full-blooded and the referee decides to set his stall out early by blowing up for the foul.

Sunderland 0-0 Sheff Wed
We're under way in front of what looks highly likely to be a record crowd for a play-off match.
It's electric in the Stadium of Light.

Right then, how we all feeling about this one then?
Looks like an incredible atmosphere inside the Stadium of Light and I know Hillsborough will be just the same on Monday evening.
Let us know how you see this one panning out by using #bbcefl on Twitter.
We'd love to hear from fans of either side or indeed neither side. Can imagine there'll be a lot of interested neutrals in this one.
It looks like more people are fancying the Owls than the Black Cats (see 19:35 BST entry). But then a lot of people of a Sunderland persuasion are probably otherwise engaged just now...
FT: Wycombe 2-0 MK Dons
The EFL play-offs started with a bang on Thursday night.
Wycombe Wanderers, who only claimed their spot on the final day of the regular season, beat MK Dons 2-0 to set things up perfectly for the return leg on Sunday.
Milton Keynes also had former Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran sent off and they've got it all to do to reach Wembley now.

Time for an incredibly scientific poll...
Who do you think is making the League One play-off final? Sunderland or Sheffield Wednesday?
Give this post a thumbs up for Sunderland and down for Wednesday.
Will review the data just after kick off.
Sunderland v Sheff Wed (19:45 BST)
If the two league meetings between these sides this season are anything to go by then this play-off semi-final could be an all-time great.
The Owls beat Sunderland 3-0 at Hillsborough in November but fell to a 5-0 loss at the Stadium of Light the following month.
The Black Cats have changed manager from Lee Johnson to Alex Neil since the two regular season meetings and Neil insisted yesterday that he did not expect those games to have any bearing on these two matches.
Sunderland v Sheff Wed (19:45 BST)
Sunderland striker Nathan Broadhead misses out after picking up an injury in the win at Morecambe last week.
Sheffield Wednesday skipper Barry Bannan starts despite having to go off in their final game of the regular season against Portsmouth.

Sunderland v Sheff Wed (19:45 BST)
It's the most wonderful time of the year... well for fans of nerve-shredding football anyway.
As play-off ties go it doesn't get much bigger than this one.
Two fallen giants both looking to get back to the second tier but with aspirations of being Premier League clubs again sooner rather than later.
Sunderland are looking to make it back to the Championship after four seasons at this level, while Wednesday are hoping to bounce back at the first attempt.
Good evening and welcome to live text coverage of the first leg of the play-off semi-final between Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday.
