Two League Two play-off semi-final first legs. Both finish 2-1 to the hosts.

After Mansfield took a 2-1 lead into the second leg against Northampton last night, Swindon and Port Vale repeated the feat this afternoon.

It's shaping up for a couple of crackers in midweek.

Goalkeeping coach on BBC Radio Wiltshire

I'm tinged with a bit of disappointment that Port Vale have that goal, as it keeps them in the tie.

I always back Swindon to score and they have better form away, so you'd expect them to score at least once.

So Vale still have a lot of work to do to turn this around.

The tie could've been taken away from Port Vale - Swindon could've given them too far to climb.

But Vale kept plugging away and it's given us a bit of a lifeline.

I thought the shape was better in the second half.

Advantage Swindon headed into Thursday's second leg at Vale Park.

Harry McKirdy's brace edges them ahead, but James Wilson's late goal for Port Vale has certainly given this play-off semi-final some excitement.

Perhaps we're not in for an amazing crescendo to this first leg.

    Swindon 2-1 Port Vale

That Port Vale goal has come at a pretty inopportune time for Swindon, who now look like they're chasing the game despite having a one-goal lead.

Not long left in this first leg, but all of a sudden the momentum is with Vale.

    That's a lifeline for Vale.

It's another good ball into the box, Swindon didn't clear their lines and James Wilson's poached at the back post.

That could just put a little seed of doubt into the minds of the Swindon players.

What did I say about a Port Vale goal?

James Wilson pulls one back and it's a scrappy goal as he taps in from about a yard out. He's onside, too.

It comes after Swindon fail to clear their lines and Jamie Proctor diverts a deflected shot, which kindly falls into Wilson's path.

    Swindon 2-0 Port Vale

    Sophie Hurcom
BBC West Sport at the County Ground

'Oh Harry McKirdy' is ringing out quite possibly around the whole of Swindon right now, as he gets his second of the afternoon and puts his team 2-0 up - and well in the driving seat in this play-off tie.

Aidan Stone did well to save Jack Payne's first effort, but it fell straight into the path of probably the last person Port Vale would want today, as McKirdy struck it on the volley with his right foot straight into the net.

Vale have had a lot of the ball this second half in and around the Swindon box, but the home side have been rapid on the counter-attack and look much more dangerous.

Considering how many goals Swindon have scored this season, and how many attacking chances they've created, it feels like they're going to have another good opportunity before the end of this match.

That's a huge let off for the Vale.

The Swindon man tried to lift the ball over Aidan Stone.

If Swindon go 3-0 that's a mountain to climb.

My word it should be a Harry McKirdy hat-trick!

He picks up a loose ball as Port Vale's back line are caught out and he races into the box.

But his final effort drifts just over the crossbar.
