    So that's it.

Port Vale will face Mansfield in the League Two play-off final at Wembley on Saturday 28 May, with a place in League Two on offer.

James Wilson got his side back in the tie with a goal after only eight minutes to make it 2-2 on aggregate.

Keeper Aidan Stone made a big save in the penalty shoot-out, before Mal Benning became the home-hero to put his side 6-5 up in sudden death.

Ellis Iandolo had the heartbreak of being the player to miss, to send Vale through to the final at Wembley and bring Swindon's season to a close.

  3. What a night for Port Valepublished at 22:58 British Summer Time 19 May 2022

Port Vale 1-0 Swindon Town (agg 2-2) - Vale win 6-5 on penalties

James Wilson's eighth minute goal was the only goal we saw all night after a mammoth 120 minutes of open play.

Swindon had the chance to win the match in the penalty shoot-out, but Josh Davison saw his spot-kick saved.

We went to sudden death and Ellis Iandolo was player no-one wants to be. Sadly someone has to miss.

I'm really pleased for the supporters, They've been starved of success for so many years. I'm sure they will take a big crowd to Wembley.

It's a magnificent achievement to get to Wembley for any player, they are one step away from promotion.

Port Vale 1-0 Swindon Town (agg 2-2 - Vale win 6-5 on penalties)

Total heartbreak for Swindon Town. No one wants to go out, especially in the cruellest of ways on penalties, but unfortunately one team has to lose.

You've got to feel for Ellis Iandolo as well. The 24-year-old is the Robins' longest serving player, having been at the club since 2015.

The players deserved a massive pat on the back for the desire they have shown. They've found a way to nullify Swindon and they've managed to get through after a penalty shoot-out.
