Swindon are enjoying a lot more possession this opening few minutes of the half.

There's going to be a period in this game when Swindon are going to be on top and Vale then need to stand up and defend.

A decent bit of play here from Swindon. The first sees David Worrall have to time his tackle to perfection on Louie Barry to knock the ball out of play on the edge of the box.

The second sees Josh Davison get his head on a decent cross from Ellis Iandolo, but it goes over the bar.

Swindon have come out firing a little more this half.

There was a lovely Potteries sunset over the practice pitches at the back of the Bycars Stand End in Burslem. But whose promotion hopes is the sun going to set on over the next hour or more?

It's whether Port Vale can keep the momentum going in that second half. They could have possibly had another goal but they are definitely back in this tie.

I've not seen a start like that from Vale for a long time. Swindon were shell-shocked and couldn't get out of their half.

Swindon grew into the game and look like they have the quality to hurt us if we take too many risks, but it's been all Vale in that half.

Swindon haven't really tested Aidan Stone in the Port Vale goal.

In the first stages of the game Vale were all over them like a rash. Swindon have come more into the game but they haven't managed to create a telling chance in front of goal.

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 19 May 2022

Port Vale 1-0 Swindon Town (agg 2-2)

James Wilson has got Port Vale back in this tie after only eight minutes, tapping in from close range for his second goal in two matches to give his side the lead on the night.

Wilson missed another absolute open goal though, while Nathan Smith also hit the post for the home side. Port Vale fans might well be wondering how their team aren't ahead by more goals.

Port Vale are still enjoying the better of possession but Darrell Clarke will surely want his side to take their chances and make the most of it.

Jonny Williams links up with Louie Barry, but the Welsh international's cross into the box goes high and too far for any Swindon player to get anywhere near it.

Josh Davison gets a bit of a telling off from the referee for shoving Nathan Smith to the ground off the ball.

Tensions are definitely rising at Vale Park.

Port Vale are pushing and open up the Swindon defence again.

Kian Harratt sends a lovely ball in across the face of goal but Ellis Iandolo slides forward and sticks out a leg to make a massive interception and put the ball out of play.

James Wilson was very, very nearly in on goal. Again!

Mandela Egbo loses possession in what could be a sticky position but luckily his team-mates quickly win it back.

Swindon are just still struggling to get many passes strung together and get any flow going in their play.
