What a big moment for Tom Cairney, a Fulham stalwart and favourite who has just thrashed his side in front with a huge goal.

Great tee up for the midfielder, who arrows it into the postage stamp area of the goal.

Championship celebrations are on... for now!

Tempers fraying as Tom Lockyer is booked for a sliding lunge on Aleksandar Mitrovic and gets a booking for it.

Marco Silva and Nathan Jones exchange frank views on the bench.

Fulham can't make anything of the set-piece. But they're finding their groove.

  3. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Fulham 0-0 Luton

Another nervy moment for Matt Ingram in the Luton goal as a shot from Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic fired across goal almost creeps through his legs.

He recovers sharply enough, but needs a few confident touches to calm things down here.

  4. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Fulham 0-0 Luton

Dangerous corner by Robert Snodgrass whistles across the Fulham penalty area but Dan Potts just can't connect with the delivery.

Real danger for the hosts there.

First chance for Aleksandar Mitrovic, well a half-chance anyway.

Tom Cairney lofted a ball to the far post and under pressure he got a sniff of a header over the top.

  6. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Fulham 0-0 Luton

Luton certainly aren't fazed by Fulham here, with Nathan Jones' side confident in possession and getting at the home side's defence.

Only Marek Rodak's alertness denied the visitors a chance after Robert Snodgrass sent a teasing ball forward.

    Fulham 0-0 Luton

Kal Naismith gets the Luton fans on their feet, as he tiptoes through the tackles and then sends a skiddy low drive which Marek Rodak has to palm away.

The corner is dealt with. Open and lively start here.

  8. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Fulham 0-0 Luton

Not a great start for Luton's emergency loan goalkeeper Matt Ingram.

Fails to take a cross cleanly. Fulham then get a corner which Harry Wilson arrows to the far post but can't keep it in play.

    Fulham v Luton (17:15 BST)

Luton have been forced to make a late change to their team with Dan Potts replacing Allan Campbell. Presume that's a warm-up injury. Elliot Thorpe will now be on the bench for the Hatters.

    Fulham v Luton (17:15 BST)

It's a good job Fulham have been so dominant in 2021-22, as their recent run of one win in five is hardly promotion-standard.

They only need two points from the final two games to ensure the title though, a doable task despite facing two of the top six in that run-in.

By contrast, Luton have taken 14 points from a possible 21 to embed themselves in the top six.

To recall a season where Luton enjoyed promotion to the top flight, you have to go back even further in time, 40 years in fact, when David Pleat's Hatters won the Second Division title.

Stars such as 21-goal top scorer Brian Stein, future England international Ricky Hill and Northern Ireland defender Mal Donaghy emerged, while veteran Brian Horton offered experience and Raddy Antic a bit of Eastern European maverick quality.

They did it with a bit of swagger, and enjoyed a 4-1 thrashing of rivals Watford en route, winning 25 of 42 games and finishing eight points clear at the top.

Nathan Jones' side might not be in the mix for the title, but they are certainly in form for the play-offs. They have come from as low as 15th back in December to be in contention for the Premier League.

  14. Mitro bidding to equal recordpublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 2 May 2022

It's not just team success being achieved at Fulham. Individual glory is up for grabs too.

One goal would do it. A record which has stood for 29 years is about to be matched as Aleksandar Mitrovic sits on 41 goals for the season with two games to play.

'Corporal' Guy Whittingham is still the leading post-1992 marksman with his 42 goal haul for Portsmouth, in 1992-93.

What price for the Serb to overhaul him this evening? Bear in mind he's already taken Ivan Toney's 'Championship' record off him earlier this season - less than a year after he set it.

The last Fulham team to win the title at this level was Jean Tigana's side of 2000-01, who racked up 101 points en route to lifting the trophy.

While much of the strike threat this season has come from 41-goal Aleksandar Mitrovic, Tigana's team saw Louis Saha score 27, and Barry Hayles and Luis Boa Morte contributed 18 apiece.

The creativity was provided by Lee Clark, John Collins and Sean Davis, while old-school stoppers like Andy Melville and Chris Coleman provided the steel at the back.

Marco Silva's class of 2022 have scored nine more goals though, with two games to play including tonight.

    Fulham v Luton (17:15 BST)

Fulham have Kenny Tete and Antonee Robinson back on the side, with Neco Williams and Joe Bryan dropping out.

Newly-signed Matt Ingram will dig Luton out of their goalkeeping crisis - he starts, while Nathan Jones' side is attack-minded.

Fulham: Rodak, Tete, Tosin, Ream, Robinson, Reed, Cairney, Wilson, Carvalho, Cordova-Reid, Mitrovic.

Subs: Gazzaniga, Hector, Bryan, Chalobah, Seri, Kebano, Muniz.

Luton: Ingram, Onyedinma, Burke, Lockyer, Naismith, Bell, Lansbury, Campbell, Snodgrass, Hylton, Jerome.

Subs: Potts, Cornick, Mendes Gomes, Clark, Kioso, Isted, Muskwe.

    Referee: Tim Robinson

    This could be the day.

Having put the champagne back in the cellar after Tuesday's home defeat by Nottingham Forest, Fulham can finally secure the Championship title this afternoon with a win at the Cottage this evening.

However, before they get to pop the corks in earnest, they'll have to get past a Luton Town side desperate to secure their place in the end-of-season shoot-out that is the play-offs. A win for them would book their spot.

It's a big night for all concerned. No foregone conclusion. But when is the Championship ever that?
