Arbroath's Nicky Low tells BBC Scotland: "The gaffer had a game plan, we wanted to win the game but we obviously want to stay in the tie.

"It's all to play for in the second leg. It's a tough place to come and we'll take this draw.

"We'll go out to win it on Friday. It'll be tough, they've been tight games all season, but we'll have our home fans there and we'll give it our best shot.

Both sides have been left frustrated in the first leg of the Scottish Premiership play-off semi-finals.

Each team had their chances but failed to find that all-important goal as they go into the second leg at Gayfield level on aggregate.

Will the Arbroath fairytale have another chapter? Or will Inverness meet the second-bottom side in the Premiership?

Liam Hendeson does well to latch onto a ball heading towards the byline for the away side but fails to keep it in play as he stumbles on the turn.

Inverness get on the attack quickly but fail to fashion an opportunity as a glancing Aaron Doran header goes out goal kick.

A huge crowd will be expected at Gayfield for the second leg on Friday, coupled with the extra rest may well make Arbroath more confident of the sides heading into that clash.

Shane Sutherland and Logan Chalmers are off for the hosts.

Tensions are high as a group of players clash in the middle of the park after Thomas O'Brien and Reece McAlear go in for a tackle.

The referee swiftly disperses the group of players but managers Billy Dodds and Dick Campbell engage a few words on the touchline, too.

Austin Samuels seems destined to score again but it is somehow cleared by Arbroath, as the Inverness striker can't sort out his feet just a yard or so from goal.

The resulting corner comes to nothing as it goes out for an Arbroath goal kick.

Derek Gaston - what a save.

Austin Samuels gets on the end of a ball goalside of the Arbroath defence and his strike seems destined to fly in the net but Gaston manages to push it past the post.

Sensational.

The best chance of the second half falls to Logan Chalmers.

He collects the ball on the right-hand side of the box but his curling left-footed attempt back across goal trundles wide.

Mark Ridgers launches a free-kick towards the Arbroath box but the home side can't quite get the attack to stick as they lose the ball.

Billy Mckay then departs for the home side with Aaron Doran coming on for the game's first substitution.

Jason Thomson can't quite meet a through ball that's put out of play for an Arbroath throw-in level with the edge of the box.

Inverness win possession moments later before Austin Samuels is brought down in the centre circle as he attempts to launch a counter-attack.

A yellow card is shown for Thomas O'Brien wiping out Samuels.

An Arbroath free-kick is knocked back out of the area by the home side before it is volleyed over the bar by James Craigen.

Moments later, Logan Chalmers is slipped in on the edge of the box and his attempt is cleared for a corner that comes to no avail for the hosts.

Austin Samuels twists and turns his way into the box but his curled shot is ultimately blocked.

A bring start to the second half from the home side.

A huge 45 coming for both sides as they continue their promotion hunts.
