John McGinn, wearing the captain's armband tonight, wins a free-kick.

They work a pre-planned set-piece as McGinn sends Billy Gilmour down the right, but the midfielder's ball across is diverted behind.

The resulting corner is clawed away by the Armenia keeper.

It's much better from Scotland, who work a chance down the right as Stuart Armstrong slides the ball across goal.

But John McGinn completely misses it before Nathan Patterson slices an attempt horribly with his left foot.

Armstrong head and shoulders above any Scotland player so far.

The back three look very nervous. Jack Hendry going forward has been tremendous but the back three aren't working as a unit.

Cute attempt from Che Adams, who beats his man with a lovely nutmeg then attempts a dink over the keeper.

    Yurchenko has it covered, though.

Scotland striker Che Adams attempts a snap-shot from range but it rolls narrowly wide of the bottom-left corner.

A decent spell of Scotland possession results in Callum McGregor getting the ball poked off him in the Armenia box.

The hosts are now on the break and again slice through the away defence, but the visitors survive again.

Scotland are all over the place at the back.

It's almost identical to the Ireland second goal on Saturday. It's a ball over the top. Scotland are lucky he's tried to take an extra touch, which allowed Jack Hendry to scramble it clear. These balls over the top are causing Scotland a lot of problems.

The ease this Armenia attack is cutting through the Scotland defence is really concerning as the Scots deal with a home corner.

The standard of this defending... wow.

Another scooped ball over the top has Barseghyan through this time. The striker looks certain to score but Jack Hendry somehow recovers.

  12. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 18 mins

Scotland get away with one again. Dearie me.

A hopeful ball over the top catches the away defence out and Bayramyan is in.

His first attempt is blocked by Scott McTominay but the forward is able to guide in the rebound.

The lineman's flag is up. After a VAR check the decision is confirmed.

It's a really good finish, calm. Something you'd expect from Stuart Armstrong working off the striker. Yes, it's fortunate that it falls from Che Adams' effort. But he's positioned himself in front of goal anticipating a pass.

Phew. The Scots are back in it.

Che Adams attempts to flick up and overhead kick Jack Hendry's clipped pass into the box.

But the striker's failed attempt falls into the path of Southampton team-mate Stuart Armstrong, who buries coolly first time.

Big, big sigh of relief for Scotland.

John McGinn looks for Che Adams at the back post but again the Armenia defence are first to it.

Moments later, another stray pass from the Scots goes out of play. A sobering start for Steve Clarke.

It was excellent play. But from Scotland, too often now we are giving up chances when we have lost possession and our backline is breached

    Oh dear. A defensive nightmare.

Grant Hanley loses a physical duel with Bayramyan wide on the right and the winger gets to the byeline before sliding the ball across to Bichakhchyan, who taps in the opener.

Really poor from the Scotland defence.
