Tonight was important for Northern Ireland in terms of getting some final match practice, but the result was never going to be the most important thing for manager Kenny Shiels and his squad.

He has been vocal about how he would have liked more than just this sole warm-up game on the eve of the Euros, but that's it for NI in terms of match preparation.

It was a good work-out for the players and particularly challenging after going down to 10 players when goalkeeper Jackie Burns was sent off in the 69th minute.

It will be a bit of rest and recovery now for the NI players before their focus turns to what will be a historic debut in a major finals at the 2022 Euros.

It was probably harsh on Northern Ireland, but this was how Belgium's fourth goal went in during injury time.

It was an uphill task for Northern Ireland after keeper Jackie Burns was sent off - and it wasn't long before Tessa Wullaert and Ella Van Kerkhoven put the hosts 3-1 up

It finishes 4-1 to the hosts in Lier as Belgium make their extra player pay with three late goals after Northern Ireland had keeper Jackie Burns sent off.

Lauren Wade's super strike on the stroke of half time made it 1-1 after Belgian captain Tessa Wullaert opened the scoring.

Belgium dominated the second half and took charge after Burns was shown a straight red card for bringing down Wullaert.

Ella Van Kerkhoven grabbed their second and Wullaert made it 3-1 before an unfortunate Laura Rafferty Rafferty own goal in injury time completed the scoring.

Jackie Burns will not want to watch this one too many times again as the NI keeper is shown a red card.

Ashley Hutton comes on for her 114th Northern Ireland after having battled her way back to fitness from a long-term knee injury.

She'll be keen to show manager Kenny Shiels that she is fit to play in the Euros.

Sub keeper Becky Flaherty was alert there to come off her line superbly and save at the feet of Tessa Wullaert.

As a result of that red card for Jackie Burns, Becky Flaherty has come on in nets, with Northern Ireland goalscorer Lauren Wade making way.

Double substitutions for Northern Ireland as Rebecca Holloway and Chloe McCarron come on for Rachel Furness and Sarah McFadden.

That will mean a change to the formation.

Some nice build-up play from the Belgians leads to a chance on the edge of the box for Tine De Caigny but her shot is too close to Jackie Burns, who saves.

You have to wonder how much longer Northern Ireland can hold out here as the hosts' attacks start to mount up.

Belgium substitute Elena Dhont shows some neat footwork to create space in the Northern Ireland box, but her shot goes over the bar.

The hosts are starting to turn the screw here.

A Belgian free-kick is floated into the box but nothing comes of it - which pretty much sums up the opening stages of this second half.

The pace is slow, with neither side having found their attacking rhythm.
