    There was some sloppiness from Rangers. If it's a PSV or Monaco you may find yourself punished. Rangers have to take this energy into their league games now for me. Maybe this can be the catalyst Rangers need to get back to playing the style and type of football we've known for the past few years.

    Rangers host St Johnstone in the Premiership this Saturday coming before their play-off first leg at Ibrox against PSV next midweek.

    The return leg in Eindhoven will take place the following week after Rangers travel to Hibernian.

    Rangers boss Van Bronckhorst was also eager to emphasise the need to keep this level of performance going into the next round.

    "I'm really pleased we're still in contention to go to the group stage," he said. "I think we made this tie very difficult because of the first performance and we needed a huge performance today.

    "We know what went wrong last Tuesday but we need two games like we delivered today to have a chance to go through [against PSV]."

    On the fans inside Ibrox tonight: "They are very important for us. Today they were very noisy, everywhere we go we have a great support."

    It was strange, we saw Union's quality coming forward in the final five minutes but not the previous 85. A lot of that is down to Rangers simply not letting them. The fans played a huge part too. The Rangers players thrived tonight, none more so than Tillman.

    Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst tells BBC Scotland: “It was a similar atmosphere [to the RB Leipzig game], the stakes were very high.

    "We had to overcome two goals, and maybe with no way goals it's easier than the past.

    "We kept a clean sheet and just created as many chances as possible. This game needed a big performance and the players gave a big performance"

    On Malik Tillman: "He was very good in the game. Already this season he's becoming a very important player for us. I think the goalkeeper was surprised with his jumping! It's a very big goal for him and a big moment for all of us."

    I don't think it was their best performance at times, however, it was all about the result. It's great to see them go through and great for Scottish football.

    Other than giving up silly possession, they didn't look overly flustered. There was a genuine belief they could do it. One more tie to go now.

    Rangers want to be playing these teams, the likes of Monaco and PSV. But let's be honest, Rangers did it against really good teams last season. Rangers players have this place behind them.
