I didn't even get the chance to tell you United made two half-time changes.
Tony Watt and Craig Sibbald were hooked for Ilmari Niskanen and Glenn Middleton.
Anyway...

Sorry United fans, but AZ don't look finished...

Quote MessageUnited will feel like they're drowning here. They can't get out.

Quote MessageI am actually feeling sorry for Jack Ross, because his team are really letting him down. If AZ decide they go for the throat here, United are in serious trouble. This is hugely disappointing after what we saw last week
Dani de Wit
Goodness me.
The ball comes into the United box too easily, AZ striker Pavlidis has a shot blocked, then De Wit is there to smash in the rebound.

We're back off and running in Alkmaar...

Calum Macdonald
BBC Scotland in Alkmaar
The United players look shellshocked. As the goals rained in Charlie Mulgrew dropped to his knees, while Liam Smith pulled his jersey up to cover his face and Ian Harkes held his head in his hands.
The players look like they don't want to be here.
A long night ahead for these United players and supporters. Everything that could have gone wrong so far for United, has.

Quote MessageThis is an absolute doing. Trying to get away from here with a 5-0 defeat might have to be Jack Ross' message at half-time. They mentally crumbled.

Does it seem daft to say United played really quite well in the first half an hour?
After that, though...
Eh... aye, safe to say United might be done.
A ruthless AZ side have emphatically turned this one around with FIVE goals in 23 first-half minutes.
Hakon Evjen
Wow. What a strike.
AZ forward Evjen has had a few efforts tonight but this one is right on the money as a rasping 20-yard strike arrows into the top-left corner.
This is getting ugly for United. Really ugly. Not even at half-time yet.
Tijjani Reijnders
United have imploded.
The away side make desperate attempts to clear the ball but they can't get it away.
The ball is then rolled across to Reijnders, who finishes first time. Two goals for the AZ midfielder and four for the Dutch side.
AZ Alkmaar 3-0 Dundee Utd (agg 3-1) (20:00)
In the blink of an eye, United are looking at a European exit.
Even at 1-0, the visitors looked threatening. Hard to see a way back now.

Quote MessageThat's a howler. It's a simple situation to deal with and he mistimed it. He just came out and punched fresh air.
Vangelis Pavlidis
Oh dear...
United keeper Mark Birighitti has had a nightmare few minutes as he attempts to come for the corner.
He's nowhere near it and AZ forward Pavlidis nods into an empty net.
AZ Alkmaar 2-0 Dundee Utd (agg 2-1)
All of a sudden, United are a bit all over the place.
Another AZ corner on the way...
AZ Alkmaar 2-0 Dundee Utd (agg 2-1)
United need calm heads.
Liam Smith almost provides an assist for the home side then Mark Birighitti is all over the shop trying to smother the ball from AZ striker Pavlidis.
