    Simon Stone

Wolves boss Bruno Lage is urging his team forward and they do have a bit of momentum.

If they can get a goal, the hosts might fancy their chances of getting something. But City can be lethal on the counter-attack.

Haaland looks great at tap ins, but City were behind Arsenal and barely ahead of United before kick off, having had the easiest fixtures of all teams in contention. They've looked vulnerable at times this year, so surely everyone is getting very, very carried away.

    Wolves 0-2 Man City

If Wolves keep pouring forward, City will get spaces to exploit just like they have now.

They have a three-on-three with Kevin de Bruyne in acres down the right, but the pass across is behind Phil Foden and the momentum of the attack is lost.

It's rare you see De Bruyne not taking advantage from a position like that. He should have had a shot at goal.

Wolves earn a corner which is played in flat by Pedro Neto and flicked on at the near post by Daniel Podence, but City manage to get the ball away to safety.

    Wolves 0-2 Man City

Erling Haaland is just a pure finisher, Mortal Kombat style.

The City has had 14 touches of the ball, which is the fewest of any player on the pitch.

    Wolves 0-2 Man City

Pedro Neto looking to run at Portuguese compatriot Joao Cancelo at the start of the second half, but the City defender is not having any of it, perfectly taking the ball and sending the Wolves player hurtling to the turf.

Haaland took his goal well, but from here it didn’t look like he struck it that hard. It looked more like a mis-hit than an absolute ‘welly’ but anyway.

Wolves have made some promising moves in response but they’ve dragged their shots wide or missed the target completely.

    Wolves 0-2 Man City

Manchester City in total control against the 10 men of Wolves and go in ahead at the break.

And the champions are top of the table as it stands.

Well done Rayan Ait-Nouri, give that man a pat on the back.

City nearly get a third when Joao Cancelo clips a cross into the box, Erling Haaland takes the ball down on his chest and is ready to bag a second, but the Wolves defender gets across in the nick of time to intercept.

    Wolves 0-2 Man City

Fancy Kevin de Bruyne getting a goal today, against a team with a man down.

The Belgium international takes the ball down on his chest outside the area, but then laces his shot wide.

Just didn't quite catch it properly.

Worst transfer business of August. Allowing Coady to go and switching to back four to bring in Collins instead. Mess from the start.

Jack Grealish showing no ill-effects (I don't think) of that industrial Nathan Collins challenge.

He plays a one-two with Erling Haaland and the room looks to be opening up for a shot, but a Wolves defender steps out to intercept.

  19. CLOSE!published at 39 mins

    Wolves 0-2 Man City

I said once that Daniel Podence is the second coming of Eden Hazard.

It hasn't quite worked out that way.

Stocky build with a backside jiggling about when on the ball, the Portuguese shuffles to the edge of the area before drilling a low shot just wide.
