Leeds United

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch speaking to BBC Sport: "We had a good start and feel on top of the game and lose a ball and then we are down 1-0. We are pushing, hit the crossbar and right now we are not finding the solutions we need to. Right now we need to fight and we need to stop the bleeding.

"When you lose a ball in the middle of the pitch it is tough, Robin Koch is unlucky and we end up 2-0 down out of nothing. That’s the way it is going right now and you have to be fighters and that’s what we have to be on Sunday."

On fan discord: "I understand they are not happy. We’re not representing the club the way we want. I am working very hard and diligently nobody is more disappointed than me and we have to find solutions.

"It is always nice when you can find two home matches like Leicester have had in a row to reboot things and we have a home match on Sunday [against Fulham] and we need that. We are fighting and desperate, we need the feeling of what it is like to win again."

A fighter and not a quitter. Hmmm.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was nowhere near what I wanted or expected. I picked a very similar team [to the Chelsea game] to try and build on that performance. I was excited to see if we could take it from there.

"If it wasn’t for the goalkeeper it could have been over by half-time. I got in amongst the players at half-time and expected a reaction.

"I expected a reaction in the second half but against a team like Fulham, who are well coached, it’s difficult. Inconsistency has cost us, that’s the position we find ourselves in. I took over the team in a very similar situation. We’ve tried to recruit to get us out of that situation.

"I’m a fighter – it’s in my DNA. I’ll continued to fight unless I’m told differently."

Of course, neither job is available just yet.

Would Pochettino realistically go to either Leeds or Villa? Hmmmm, I'm not sure he would.

Maybe the Leeds hierarchy could ask Marcelo Bielsa to tap up one of his proteges...

Leeds need to sack Marsch, he is clueless. Bring in Poch before Villa get him.

Leicester City

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers, speaking to BBC Sport: "I'm very pleased, I thought it was a very good performance and our third clean sheet in a row at home.

"Leeds were good and pressed very well but we managed the pressure well. The key was our collective work and aggression, we worked ourselves into the ground.

"It was a very good three points.

"It is going to be a slow season for us I feel but the players have performed well and we are starting to get some results. tonight it was very good.

"Harvey Barnes was outstanding and a real threat. The second goal was one of the goals of the season, exactly how we talked about our movement patterns.

"We have to build on this now and we have a good opportunity at Wolves on Sunday. We need to recover and get our game plan together."

Leeds United

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch speaking to Amazon Prime: "I think we dug ourselves a hole. The first one was a half chance and ends up being and own goal and then it goes 2-0.

"Right now in both boxes we are not helping ourselves and right now we have to find a way to stop the bleeding. When you don’t get results confidence does go lower and the desire to try and make goals. We have to try and find goals.

"What disappointed me most was it was first time down the pitch and they score. Then all of a sudden the match gets harder. We need to find goals."

On fans booing him from the stands: "First time I’ve heard that from fans. They have the right. I’m here doing what I can to help, I like our guys and we have to do what we can and find a way to stop the bleeding.

"We have to find a way to get wins. Away from home we haven’t been great. It’s a big match on Sunday [against Fulham] and we have to be ready for this."

Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was a very, very good performance. The pressure that we created, the way we kept that intensity in the first half, was good to see. Winning 3-0 at home and keeping a clean sheet – something we’ve been talking about – is incredibly important for us.

"We’ve prepared well [for the Premier League]. It’s the best competition in the world, the hardest competition in the world as well. Villa aren’t in a good moment but they have top, top quality players with a good manager as well. We knew before the match that if we gave them belief, things would be complicated for us.

"We’re embracing the challenge. We have some good days and some not so good days, but we always try to make the fans proud of us."

On Aleksandar Mitrovic: "He’s a top guy and a top professional. He’s enjoying every single moment working with us. He’s been a key player for us, like he was last season. This performance was much more than just one or two players – it was a collective thing."

Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard, speaking to Prime Video, says: "If you look at how we performed at the weekend I wanted to build on that but got the opposite. We were second best in the first half and were lucky to still be in the game.

"I got in and among the players at half-time hoping for a reaction. The performance was nowhere near good enough. The first half shocked me after what we had seen.

"I'm in a position and will try to find the answers but I will not disrespect my players. We just did not turn up tonight - it's very difficult to praise them after this performance."

On the Aston Villa fans calling for him to be sacked, Gerrard said: "It's tough. I'm a man, I accept it, I feel their frustrations, I'm frustrated. It was a tough night for me personally.

"We will see what happens. I'm a fighter, I will never, ever quit anything whether it's football or in life."

Anon: Villa, Wolves, Leicester, Forest. What do they all have in common? From the Midlands and occupy the bottom four of the league.

Leicester only had one shot on target tonight.

Not for the first time this season, Leeds wasted a hatful of chances and were duly punished.

Leicester City

Leicester defender Wout Faes: "It was amazing. We know the Leeds team try to press high but we matched their intensity and we were efficient.

"They started high and I think we coped with that and after we were solid, all together and hard to beat. We move forward game by game and let’s try and get another result on Sunday.

"We need to take responsibility as players out on the pitch and that’s what we have tried to do.

"The spirit is good and now the results follow. Let’s keep our feet on the ground. Right now I have the chance to play at the highest level. I am focused on Leicester, let’s see what will happen [with regards to the World Cup]."

Jon: Gerrard made a big deal about Smith losing five in a row before getting sacked. We are on less points than when Smith got sacked... Quite embarrassing.

Who goes first - Steven Gerrard or Jesse Marsch?

Judging by the reaction of Villa and Leeds fans here - and plenty more on social media - both sets of supporters are keen for change.

Brendan Rodgers might have bought himself a bit more time.

It couldn't be a more contrasting scene between the home and away fans at the King Power Stadium.

The Leicester supporters won't be getting too carried away, of course.

But they've not had many chances to celebrate like this for a good while and are making the most of it.

The win over Forest proved to be a false start for the Foxes, but they will be hoping a dominant win tonight can prove the catalyst for an upturn in fortunes.

A trip to Wolves - another side in the mire - is next on Sunday.

Concerning for Leeds. They were bright in possession but they gave Leicester too many chances to score against them. They haven't been good enough and they're not winning Premier League games or making the right decisions. Huge result for Leicester City at home and it takes the pressure off Brendan Rodgers' shoulders.

Pressure eased on Brendan Rodgers. Pressure increased on Jesse Marsch.

Leicester earn only their second win of the season to move off the bottom of the Premier League.

No wins in seven for Leeds.
