    Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

    Just the five added minutes?!

They got this right at the World Cup, so why can't they in the Premier League?

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 88 mins

    Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

Rashford is into the book for kicking the ball backwards as Wolves were over a free-kick. He is right that it should be taken further back than Wolves were trying to, but the ref doesn't take kindly to his intervention.

    Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

So, Wolves are still in it.

They're running out of time, though.

    Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

    Lucy Ward
Former Leeds striker on BT Sport

It was a little bit of luck that it ricocheted against Rashford so it had to be disallowed. He hasn't half made a difference since coming on. You cannot deny that was off his hand and into the back of the net.

  11. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 14:12 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2022

    Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

A very quick assessment. The goal is ruled out.

Marcus Rashford showed great desire to get past his marker in the box. His chipped shot is saved by Jose Sa but deflects back off the forward and into the unguarded net. It is clear that Rashford's arm was involved to steer the ball in, though,

    He's done it again!

Or has he? VAR are checking for handball...

  13. Postpublished at 82 mins

    Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

The stoppages in this half mean Wolves are likely to have a fair bit longer than the eight minutes we have left of normal time.

  14. 'Outstanding from Marcus Rashford'published at 14:09 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2022

    Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

    Danny Gabbidon
Former Wales defender on BBC Two

Outstanding from Marcus Rashford. You just feel that if he started this game it would've been over in the first half.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 82 mins

    Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

Daniel Podence is replaced by Raul Jimenez to try and give Wolves some punch up top.

Man Utd also make a change - Donny van de Beek for Anthony Martial. Someone to try and protect possession.

    Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

That was Marcus Rashford's sixth goal of the season.

Manchester United have avoided defeat in their last 23 matches when scoring the opening goal in the English Premier League dating back to 16th October 2021 against Leicester City (L2-4).

  17. Postpublished at 79 mins

    Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

That is a mighty big goal for Manchester United.

It was always likely that this would be a tight game. And with Wolves' clear issues with scoring, going behind was always going to be a big blow to them.

But what do the home side have in the locker to change it in the next 10 or so minutes?

  19. 'Brilliant from Rashford'published at 14:05 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2022

    Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

    Lucy Ward
Former Leeds striker on BT Sport

Brilliant from Rashford and that was a player at the top of his game. Just his drive and movement and touches and strength to eventually get the shot away. He started the move and then he held off the defenders and that was a terrific finish.

  20. goal

GOAL - Wolves 0-1 Man Utdpublished at 77 mins

    Marcus Rashford

He's off the naughty step in style!

Marcus Rashford started the game on the bench for "internal discipline" reasons, but he could well end it the match winner. He gathers the ball on the left and drives, sharing a one-two with Bruno Fernandes before jinking inside to buy a yard. His shot fires through Jose Sa and in.

    Ruthless.
