A chance for Mallorca as Vedat Muriqi gets his head on the end of Pablo Maffeo's cross but Muriqi can't direct it too well and it is well wide.

But the hosts then create another chance moments later with Antonio Sanchez shooting at goal, but Marc-Andre Ter Stegen gets a hand to it to push it wide for the corner, which comes to nothing.

Mallorca are still in this one though.

Barcelona are next in action on Tuesday with a vital Champions League tie in Italy against Inter Milan, with both sides having one win and one loss from their opening two matches in the competition.

If Xavi is looking to rest some legs for that one later on, his options on the bench include Pedri, ex-Manchester City forward Ferran Torres and former Leeds United playmaker Raphinha.

Barcelona are heading top of La Liga as it stands, thanks to Robert Lewandowski's ninth La Liga goal of the season.

But the hosts could have got an equaliser only for Jaume Costa to be denied by an excellent save from Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

And another yellow. This one for Barcelona's Franck Kessie for pulling back Pablo Maffeo, just as he was charging into the Barcelona half.

Jaume Costa of Mallorca is the next to get a yellow card, but this one is a bit soft after he had pushed Alejandro Balde in the back.

Barcelona centre-half Andreas Christensen gets a yellow card to his name for catching the foot of Vedat Muriqi late, but the hosts do nothing with the free-kick.

Seconds later Christensen's defensive partner Gerard Pique also sees yellow, lunging in at Lee Kang-in.

Mallorca's best chance of the game and only an excellent reaction save from Marc-Andre Ter Stegen keeps Barcelona in the lead.

Antonio Sanchez is free on the right wing, his first cross is headed back to him by ex-Chelsea man Andreas Christensen, but Sanchez then finds Jaume Costa running in and he prods at goal, but Ter Stegen does superbly to keep it out of the net.

Robert Lewandowski has already got one goal and quickly has a chance for another.

The ball is played over the Mallorca defence and Lewandowski side-foots a half-volley attempting to lob Predrag Rajkovic but the home goalkeeper is close enough to his line to be able to gather it.

Mallorca manager Javier Aguirre has suffered 16 La Liga defeats against Barcelona (22 games, won two, drew four), his highest tally against the same opponent in the competition, losing the last 10 in a row.

Barcelona are starting to create the opportunities, but Ousmane Dembele, on the right wing has made the wrong choice there, shooting wildly off target from the top corner of the penalty area when there were better options waiting in the middle.

A good move from Barcelona as Franck Kessie plays a clever first-time pass through the legs of a home defender. Robert Lewandowski looks to sprint on to it, but solid goalkeeping from Predrag Rajkovic as he's smartly off his line to deny the Polish striker.

Good front play from Mallorca's Vedat Muriqi, who holds up the ball showing good strength and he lays it back into the path of Lee Kang-in, but his 25-yard shot is deflected for a corner, which comes to nothing.
