  1. goal

GOAL: Rotherham 0-1 Wiganpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

    Will Keane (12 mins)

A minute after firing wide, Will Keane puts Wigan Athletic ahead against managerless Rotherham.

Charlie Wyke does well to cut the ball back across goal and Keane is there to bury it from close range.

    Sunderland 0-0 Preston

Preston don't score many but they almost had one here!

Ben Whiteman's corner is cleared back to him and he takes dead aim with a shot which is going in until Aji Alese clears it off the line

    Blackpool 0-0 Norwich

Jordan Gabriel appears fortunate not to be shown an early red card here for Blackpool.

It's a heavy challenge that sends Onel Hernandez into the air. A yellow card is all that's shown. An early point of debate, no doubt.

  4. League One game of the day: Ipswich v Portsmouthpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

    Squad Goals

These are locked together - second against third. Kieran McKenna has come out of Manchester United and has worked wonders at Ipswich and Danny Cowley is doing brilliantly at Portsmouth.

Ipswich have won only one of their past eight meeting with Portsmouth so it will be interesting to see how that goes today.

    Reading 0-0 Huddersfield

It's been a fairly scrappy start at the SCL Stadium as we've already had a couple of stoppages for injuries.

The first corner of the game goes to Reading but Andy Carroll's effort ends up wide of the target.

  6. Postpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

    Coventry 0-0 Middlesbrough

Coventry almost have themselves one heck of a homecoming goal early on.

The ball broke for Kasey Palmer, but the midfielder sees his shot go wide.

    Blackburn 0-0 Millwall

Blackburn were top of the table after beginning with three wins out of three but they have lost five in seven and could do with a result.

They have an early chance when Millwall goalkeeper George Long drops a free-kick, but Tyrhys Dolan puts the loose ball over the bar.

  8. League Two updatespublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

    #bbcefl

We've already had the first result in League Two today with Bradford winning 2-1 at Yorkshire neighbours Harrogate thanks to an Andy Cook penalty and one from Tyriek Wright, Jaheim Headley scoring a consolation for the hosts.

Elsewhere we have our first goal in the 15:00 kick-offs with Theo Vassell opening the scoring for Salford at home to Grimsby.

    West Brom 0-1 Swansea

    Squad Goals

West Brom are in all sorts of trouble. They cannot buy a win.

I don't think we're going to be calling them 'Steve Bruce's West Brom' for much longer.

There's a lot of work that needed to be done at West Brom and Steve Bruce is not being rewarded for the repairs that needed to be made.

    Rotherham 0-0 Wigan

Wigan captain Max Power has looked lively in the early exchanges between the Latics and Rotherham.

He found early space and floated in a cross that was easily gathered. He then sent the game's first corner over a scrum of bodies in the box.

Not the start West Brom would have wanted...

Matt Sorinola saw an effort turned behind for a corner by Baggies goalkeeper David Button but from the resulting set-piece he gets the better of Button to give the Swans an early lead.

West Brom have won only once in their opening 10 league games and will need to come from behind to claim three points today.

I'm looking forward to this one because Wigan have been in brilliant form away from home, but Rotherham are so strong defensively - they have the third strongest defence in the division.

It's going to be a really good match-up at the New York Stadium.

  13. Sprint to the World Cup break starts herepublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

It's worth saying that with most of the Championship clubs back in action this afternoon following the international break, for the majority of them, this is the first of ELEVEN league games between now and 12 November when the season halts for the World Cup.

Nearly a quarter of the season in just six weeks.

Let's see how the table looks after that!

  16. Three caretaker stints for Hudsonpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

    Cardiff v Burnley (15.00BST)

The international break did for Cardiff manager Steve Morison after winning just three of the team's first 10 matches following a huge summer overhaul.

Former Bluebirds captain Mark Hudson has taken the reins on an interim basis starting with this afternoon's visit of Burnley to the Welsh capital.

Hudson is no stranger to this caretaker lark, having done it twice when he was a coach at Huddersfield.

One of the stints included a defeat to Cardiff, while the other featured a 3-0 loss against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in January 2019, although former City captain and current Burnley boss Vincent Kompany did not feature that day.

  18. Smith not taking Blackpool lightlypublished at 14:53

    Blackpool v Norwich (15:00 BST)

Norwich, flying high in second and on a seven-game unbeaten run, travel to Blackpool, who have lost their past two and only won once at home this season.

Canaries boss Dean Smith, however, is not being lulled into a false sense of security on their trip to the seaside today.

"Blackpool are not in the best of runs but some of their performances have been good," Smith said during the week.

"They are an aggressive team, they have some good players there. It is going to be a test."

  19. Wood and Peltier step up for managerless Millerspublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

    Rotherham v Wigan (15:00 BST)

Paul Warne got a mention earlier for dropping a division to take the helm of Derby County.

His move has left Rotherham without a manager, which means senior players Richard Wood and Lee Peltier will lead the Millers in today's Championship clash with Wigan.

They are enjoying their best start to a Championship season since the 1960s, but were turned down by Cambridge boss Mark Bonner earlier this week.

They have spoken to other candidates over the last 36 hours but are not in a position to announce an appointment yet.

You can get the latest on Rotherham's search for a new manager from the team at BBC Radio Sheffield below.
