    Bristol City 0-0 Coventry City

Bristol City managed to ride through a good Coventry spell in front of goal and have just gone through themselves the other end.

This time Rob Atkinson breaks into the box at pace but Han-Noah Massengo's shot is saved and there's no one there to fire the rebound into the net.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:00 British Summer Time 4 October 2022

    Sunderland 0-0 Blackpool

Amazing save from Anthony Patterson to keep it goalless.

The Sunderland keeper puts a one-handed save in to deny Callum Connolly as Blackpool attacked early in the second half.

    Calvin Andrew
Ex-Rochdale, Mansfield and Port Vale forward on Squad Goals

Wes Foderingham had a clean sight of that strike from Chris Willock.

I'd want my goalkeeper to do better there.

Oof, now that's a great goal.

QPR take the lead and it comes via some neat build-up play as they pressed towards the Sheffield United box.

Chris Willock scores his sixth goal in nine games as he slots in from a tight angle.

  5. Postpublished at 20:56 British Summer Time 4 October 2022

    Sheff Utd 0-0 QPR

QPR keep pressing Sheffield United and almost ensure a perfect start to the second half.

Tyler Roberts tries his luck but can't quite divery his shot on target.

  6. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:55 British Summer Time 4 October 2022

    Bristol City 0-0 Coventry City

Another big let-off for Bristol City as Matty Godden's header from a corner somehow bounces off the crossbar and not into the net.

Seems as though that took a vital deflection off Mark Sykes to hit the woodwork.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:54 British Summer Time 4 October 2022

    Sheff Utd 0-0 QPR

Not the start to the half Sheffield United will have wanted.

George Baldock is forced off injured, with Reda Khadra replacing him.

Viktor Gyokeres might be wondering quite how he messed that up.

He was in through in a one-on-one with Dan Bentley, he tried to shift the ball on to his right foot and ended up firing the ball high over the bar.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:50 British Summer Time 4 October 2022

    Cardiff City 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

No breakthrough at the Cardiff City Stadium as we go in at the break 0-0.

Cardiff, and Callum Robinson in particular, might be wondering quite how that's the case given the amount of chances he's had, with a couple of shots going wide and Thomas Kaminski saving a few more.

Blackburn are yet to get a shot on target.

Goalless at the break in this clash at the top of the Championship.

Not a lot in this one.

  12. League Two half-time updatepublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 4 October 2022

    #bbcefl

A good opening 45 minutes for the home teams.

Hartlepool lead Doncaster Rovers 1-0 at the break. Josh Umerah's goal in the 29th minute the difference. Not bad from the Pools, who are winless through 11 league games so far this season.

Stevenage have a 1-0 lead over Sutton United thanks to a goal from Dan Sweeney.

Struggling Walsall are 1-0 up on promotion-chasers Northampton Town.

And it's goalless between Swindon Town and Newport County.

  13. Postpublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 4 October 2022

    Cardiff 0-0 Blackburn

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Cardiff City Stadium

It's been a reasonable first half in the south Walian rain, with Cardiff pressing Blackburn and creating the better chances.

I'm mainly thinking about referee John Brooks, though, and the fact he referred to former Cardiff midfielder Will Vaulks as "Vaulksy" here a couple of years ago. Never forget. Not for me, Clive.

  14. Papa Johns Trophy updatepublished at 20:45 British Summer Time 4 October 2022

    #bbcefl

As well as 14 league games across the EFL, there are also 12 Papa Johns Trophy matches being played.

    Here are the headlines...

    • Joe Gelhardt has scored twice as Leeds United Under-21s lead 5-3 at Tranmere, having had Sam Greenwood sent off
    • League Two strugglers Gillingham lead Brighton Under-21s 3-2, going into the closing stages
    • Exeter - who lost manager Matt Taylor to Rotherham earlier today - are 2-1 up at home to Southampton Under-21s

You can keep up with all the latest scores here.

  15. CLOSE!published at 20:43 British Summer Time 4 October 2022

    Cardiff City 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

Andy Rinomhota is brought down right on the edge of the penalty area and for a second the crowd inside the Cardiff City Stadium think the referee is pointing to the spot.

Sadly for them, it's given as a free-kick right on the line and while Callum Robinson whips it in and gets it around the wall, it bends wide of the post.

  16. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:41 British Summer Time 4 October 2022

    Reading 0-0 Norwich

Max Aarons works the ball to Kenny McLean as Norwich go on the counterattack against Reading.

He pulls back and Tom McIntyre sends the ball into his own crossbar.

  17. Postpublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 4 October 2022

    Cardiff City 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

Another free-klck to the Bluebirds, this time as Sheyi Ojo is fouled on the left of the penalty area.

Callum O'Dowda's header is collected by Thomas Kaminski though, as we still await our first goal.

Cardiff have had three on target so far to Blackburn's zero...

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 4 October 2022

    Luton Town 3-2 Huddersfield

The turf at Kenilworth Road is on fire. Both sides have been carving it up through 45 minutes.

Despite some good energy Huddersfield have been exposed for what they are in defence - young and inexperienced.

Luton Town have made the most of their chances. Elijah Adebayo is an absolute menace!

  19. Postpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 4 October 2022

    Reading 0-0 Norwich

Loum Ndiaye tries his luck from the edge of the Norwich box.

However, after working onto Junior Hoilett's cross, his shot on goal is blocked away.

  20. League One half-time updatepublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 4 October 2022

Sheffield Wednesday celebrateImage source, Rex Features

All square between Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 at the break, with Ryan Hardie’s early goal for Argyle cancelled out minutes later by Liam Palmer.

Fleetwood lead 1-0 at Burton Albion thanks to Harvey Macadam’s goal. Cheltenham v Bolton remains goalless.

Meanwhile, they're about 15 minutes behind at Portman Road - where it's 0-0 between Ipswich and Cambridge - as kick-off was delayed.
