Silkeborg director Kent Madsen has compared facing West Ham to something once said by English cartoon bear Winnie the Pooh.

"Winnie the Pooh always said the best thing is not to eat honey. It was the moment just before you start eating," Madsen said.

"We have to enjoy all the excitement and anticipation of this match. Some time in the future we might be talking about that day when we beat West Ham, just like we did for many years after winning at Sparta Praha in 1995."

Silkeborg are in Europe for the first time since 2001-02 after finishing third in the Danish league last season.

They lost to Finnish side HJK in Europa League qualifying and then Anderlecht in the Conference group opener.

Their last European win was in 1998, a Uefa Cup qualifier against Slovenian side Mura.

Excluding qualifiers and the Intertoto Cup, they have never won a European game proper.

They are managed by ex-Aston Villa defender Kent Nielsen.

The biggest win tonight so far saw Feyenoord beat Sturm Graz 6-0.

Real Sociedad have beaten Omonia 2-1.

The Basques lead the group on six points, above United and Sheriff on three each.

The winner of the group skips a round over the team who finish second so there is a big benefit to finishing top.

The team who finish third drop into the Conference League.

Vaduz's wait for a first European win goes on. They ended up losing 4-1 at AZ Alkmaar after Benji Buchel's red card.

Shamrock Rovers fell to a 3-0 defeat at Gent in the Europa Conference League.

A great win for Midtjylland over Lazio in Denmark. It ended 5-1 in their Europa League game.
