Tynecastle is filling up nicely as anticipation builds for a juicy European contest where there won't be a seat to to be had come kick-off.

The away section is already packed, with the Fiorentina fans in boisterous voice.

Out on the pitch both sets of teams are carrying out their pre-match drills - Fiorentina's players probably relishing the chance to try to heat up up on a typically wet and windy Scottish evening.

  3. Jovic backed to come goodpublished at 19:36 British Summer Time 6 October 2022

    Hearts v Fiorentina (20:00)

Luka Jovic, Fiorentina's big money signing this summer, has been given the proverbial vote of confidence by manager Vincenzo Italiano.

The Serbian striker - who cost Real Madrid 60m euros three years ago - has scored only once in 11 matches and come under fire from sections of the Fiorentina support.

"He is only 24 and there is a lot of pressure added to him,” said Italiano.

"He needs confidence and support from his team and the club. He will grow and become better. Even a fluke goal will let him grow to where he needs to be. I have great confidence in what he will become."

If Hearts win tonight, they have got a wonderful chance to get out of the group, because you'd assume Basaksehir will win all their games.

  5. Hearts will 'take game to Fiorentina' - Neilsonpublished at 19:26 British Summer Time 6 October 2022

    Hearts v Fiorentina (20:00)

Robbie Neilson says Hearts will look to "take the game to" Fiorentina, while still respecting their Serie A status.

"We have to bring our best game and hope that Fiorentina don't bring theirs, but it's a great spectacle for us and one we are really excited about. We have to be at our very best to get something out of the game."

Neilson pointed out that, under head coach Vincenzo Italiano, Fiorentina no longer fit the old stereotype of Italian football.

"They are very, very aggressive in the press," he added. "Italian football over the last number years has changed quite a bit. It's gone from 'catenaccio' sitting in and defending to real out pressing and aggressive. It's really exciting to watch.

"We have to find a way to try and combat that."

Good evening and welcome to another European night in the Scottish capital.

One win and one heavy loss for Hearts so far in their Europa Conference League group, but how will they fare against Fiorentina?

Well, La Viola have one win in their last ten and are yet to win in this group campaign so far. Don't let that fool you though, this is a strong squad - expensively assembled with multiple international caps between them.
