Well, it was a frustrating night for England as their 15-game winning streak was ended by a stubborn Czech Republic side in Brighton.

If you missed tonight's game, make sure to read Ben Miller's report from the Amex Stadium.

And there was plenty of drama in the World Cup play-offs...

That's us until next time. Goodnight!

All roads lead to the World Cup in 10 months, but there's still plenty of Lionesses action to come before that.

Next month, the European champions will take in two friendlies in Spain, facing Japan on 11 November and Norway four days later.

Given what happened the last time England faced Norway, that one in particular holds plenty of intrigue.

More from England boss Sarina Wiegman's post-match interview with ITV:

On how she gets the best out of Lucy Bronze: "She always wants to win, she always wants to play and she's always training hard, so I don't think she needs anyone else to say how she needs to get the best out of herself."

On Lauren James' debut: "She feels comfortable and she's enjoying herself, which is what we'd hoped she would do. She was very enjoyable to watch and I think she had a good debut today."

On Lauren Hemp as number nine: "I think any centre-forward would have found this game hard but she's looking comfortable and we just want to have as many options as possible. I will keep this all in mind."

England boss Sarina Wiegman speaking to ITV:

"We didn't score because we just weren't sharp enough. We didn't get that many opportunities but we already knew that the Czech defence are very good. They put all their players up into the penalty box.

"They were difficult to break down and you can tell that because we didn't score, which is a little bit annoying.

"But they were so compact, so physical in the air and sometimes very dangerous on the counter-attack too.

"We tried to break them down and changed our shape but we didn't get it in the back of the net."

    Ian Wright, speaking on ITV:

"We didn't pass the ball quick enough to get the ball into Lauren James for her to commit people.

"Everything was too slow, there were opportunities to move them around. We were just passing it around and it didn't feel sharp at all."

A frustrating night for England, but one to remember for Esme Morgan.

The 21-year-old Manchester City defender came on as a second-half substitute for her Lionesses debut.

The first of many caps, I would think...

There will be different challenges and scenarios at the World Cup next year.

At the Euros we were the home nation, they knew the stadiums and they had the fans, so in that aspect the World Cup will be completely different.

I think the team are still in a good position and the fans will look forward to all of those games.

  9. 'As European champions you have to win games like that'published at 22:07 British Summer Time 11 October 2022

    FT: England 0-0 Czech Republic

    England

Lucy Bronze, speaking to ITV after winning her 100th cap:

"I don't think we were clinical enough, we had a few chances and did play well in spells but we're not used to this team not being clinical.

"It's disappointing but I suppose it's a clean sheet and that's a positive to take from it. We worked hard until the last minute but when you're European champions you have to win games like that.

"We knew they were going to be tough opposition. From the first whistle we kept our standards and played how we wanted to play, but it wasn't our day today."

Wiegman took her seat a minute or two before the final whistle, which denied Rada one final substitution after his side launched the last dangerous attack of the game.

"Let's have a cheer for the brilliant Lucy Bronze on her 100th cap," says the stadium announcer here, receiving a suitably enthusiastic response. It wasn't the result most supporters here wanted, but England couldn't have gone much closer than hitting the post twice against stubborn opponents who posed questions of them.

The players are now heading towards the fans, who are crowding by the hoardings to collect signatures and serenade them with singsongs.

It's a big result for the Czech Republic.

I remember being one of those smaller nations when England were playing against the likes of Germany and the USA. If we got a draw then you'd feel like you'd won the game.

That's what it's like for lower ranked teams to play the European champions and to frustrate them.

Usually Kiera Walsh bosses and runs the show in midfield but she didn't get a lot of the ball. There wasn't a lot of space in midfield and they compacted the space well.

England just didn't have the answers tonight to break them down.

England draw just their second blank in 24 games under Sarina Wiegman.

Easily the most dangerous team throughout, the Lionesses came up against an impressively assembled Czech Republic defensive unit.

Far from their most free-flowing display of 2022, England can at least take the positives away as they remain unbeaten under Wiegman.
