    Juventus v PSG (20:00 GMT)

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri is the eighth manager to take charge of 100 Champions League matches.

The other seven are Alex Ferguson (190), Arsene Wenger (184), Carlo Ancelotti (183), Pep Guardiola (153), Jose Mourinho (151), Mircea Lucescu (115) and Jurgen Klopp (100).

Klopp only joined the club yesterday.

Julian Alvarez believes he is trusted to lead the line at Manchester City despite having to play understudy to Erling Haaland since arriving from River Plate.

The 22-year-old starts his fourth consecutive Champions League game today and is keen to add to the four goals he has already scored for the club.

"It's a privilege [to follow Haaland] and always great to play against the best players in the world," said Alvarez.

"We're as old as each other but we can both learn from each other - we're very different players.

"I like to occupy different positions and at River Plate there were other players who were goalscorers. I'm used to these situations and I trust my ability and other players trust me as well."

Mason Mount has been directly involved in more shots than any other Chelsea player in the Champions League this season (21 - 10 shots, 11 chances created).

The only other Premier League player who has had 10 or more shots and created 10 or more chances is Manchester City's Jack Grealish.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has used his programme notes to highlight why he thinks his team have qualified for the Champions League group stage for 10 years in succession.

"I honestly believe the main reason we have managed to do this is because my players are humble," he said.

    "We respect every single opponent."

They have spent a bit of money as well but I know what he means.

Graham Potter says at a club like Chelsea "you are only 90 minutes away from a crisis" - but that as manager it's important to be "careful about what you listen to".

"People can talk and say whatever they like but you have to be able to put that into perspective, understand where you are and where you have been and be as sensible as possible," he said.

"There will always be people who don't like you or have a different view of the situation but I can't control that.

"All I can do is focus on how I think and how I act and let the outside noise carry on."

Chelsea have got too many similar kinds of attacking players - Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic. To get an attacking force you need different dynamics in your squad. You need width on one side and more intricacy on the other to give that balance. You need an overlapping full-back versus a full-back that crosses from deep on the other side.

Despite a spirited defensive performance from Leicester this weekend they weren’t able to stop City, thanks to a Kevin de Bruyne 'worldy'.

City proved they can win without Erling Haaland and against a team who ‘parked the bus’ for about 70 minutes.

It’s difficult to criticise Brendan Rodgers’ tactics, although some suggested had Leicester taken the same approach they showed in the last period earlier in the game they could have won. At the end of the season this may prove to be a vital three points for the Blues.

With Haaland unavailable it gives me the opportunity to celebrate a number of other performances among City’s star-studded team.

De Bruyne is living up to the label of the best midfielder in the world. Ederson, who has little to do in most games, pulled off a magnificent save just after City went ahead and is proving he’s not just in the team for his amazing distribution. Jack Grealish seems to be playing with greater freedom and what a joy to have Americ Laporte back, fully fit, commanding the defence.

No need for Haaland, or any of the other stars, midweek in the dead rubber against Sevilla in the Champions League as City have already qualified as winners of Group G. A great opportunity to give ‘the kids’ a runout and give the stars a rest.

Then at the weekend it’s back to Premier League business against an improving Fulham side who are up to seventh following a decent unbeaten run. Let’s hope Haaland is back, fully fit and ready to rejoin his fellow stars.

Chelsea's Armando Broja, who signed a new six-year deal in the summer, said he will be "giving it my all to break into the team".

The striker had been linked with a move to West Ham, but insisted he was only ever "focusing on trying to be ready for the season."

"I see it as a massive opportunity. This is my boyhood club and I love to play for Chelsea, the fans and the club," he said.

"I will do my best and give it my all to try to break into the starting line-up. I want to keep improving as a player and person."

  9. City don't 'take risk' on Haalandpublished at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2022

Erling Haaland "feels better" and could be back to face Fulham on Saturday, according to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

Haaland was replaced at half-time in a goalless draw against his former club Borussia Dortmund on 25 October because he had a fever and a knock to his foot.

He missed the league win at Leicester City and is absent today.

"Erling will not be available for [Sevilla]," said Guardiola yesterday.

"He feels better compared to Saturday and Sunday, but not 100%.

"We don't want to take a risk, it makes no sense. Hopefully he will be back for Fulham."

Haaland has scored a record-breaking 22 goals in his first 15 games for City.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their four Champions League games under Graham Potter, and have won their past three.

The last Chelsea boss to go undefeated in his first five games in the competition was Roberto di Matteo in 2011-12, when the Blues went on the lift the trophy.

The Blues last lost a home Champions League group match in September 2019, winning six and drawing four of the 10 since then.

However, Chelsea’s only previous meeting with a Croatian side was their 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture of this match in September.

  11. 'Sterling is used to having chances put on a plate'published at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2022

Chelsea v Dinamo Zagreb (20:00 GMT)

    Izzy Christiansen
Everton and England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

At Manchester City, Raheem Sterling was playing with Kevin de Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva, who put chances on plates for people.

Sterling just isn't in that environment at the moment where they are creating real clear-cut chances.

Chelsea thought they were getting a goalscorer in Sterling, but he might need to score different types of goals.

  12. Are Chelsea's owners prepared to stick with Potter for the long haul?published at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2022

Chelsea v Dinamo Zagreb (20:00 GMT)

    Will Faulks, Chelsea News, external:

Chelsea's new owners didn't sack Thomas Tuchel because he wasn't getting the results they wanted or because they didn't think that he would help their team to succeed this season. By their own admission, they sacked their Champions League-winning coach because they didn't think he was the right manager to work with them in the way they want.

Given that, one would hope they're ready to stand by their chosen replacement for the long haul.

A dreadful result this weekend has brought the first negative murmurs of Graham Potter's time in charge from the wider world, and the first real questions about his capability to take this team back to the level it is expected to be at. It's an exceptionally competitive Premier League this season, with no easy points, and no margin for error for anyone.

There were a lot of Chelsea fans - perhaps a majority - who weren't happy with the sacking of Tuchel. Now that deed is done, they will be expecting their new owners to be true to their principles and back Potter's long-term vision.

If they fail to do that, they will have undermined their own reasoning for sacking one of the world's top coaches.

    This is Halland

One is a footballer who has scored 22 goals in 15 games since joining Manchester City this season, the other a Swedish region known for its beaches.

Completely unalike, yet online they are being confused.

A simple spelling error means anyone searching for Halland - on the Swedish coast - is likely to instead find countless photos of Norwegian footballer Erling Braut Haaland.

And the head of the Swedish tourist board for the region has had enough.

Visit Halland director Jimmy Sandberg has written an open letter asking English people, journalists and football fans worldwide to hit the spellcheck before hitting send.

"We are Halland. He is Haaland. The popularity of the football phenomenon is completely suffocating our online presence," he wrote.

Graham Potter didn't look at individuals [after Chelsea's 4-1 defeat at Brighton on Saturday], he looked at the group as a collective picture. I think that is the best way to go about it. One thing he said that stuck out to me was that you had to have a bit of reality and perspective. He took over with the club in a difficult spot and turned it around very quickly. They have got a big chance tonight to put it right and get it back on track. A win could change a lot of things.

  20. Is Potter the right man?published at 19:32 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2022

Chelsea v Dinamo Zagreb (20:00 GMT)

    Alistair Magowan, BBC Sport:

Chelsea suffered their first defeat under Graham Potter at his old club Brighton on Saturday, and it has drawn plenty of debate among fans about his credentials to take the club forward.

Losing only one of his 10 games in charge and securing qualification for the last 16 in the Champions League is a very good start and perhaps points to overreaction from some.

Yet performances have been alarming at times. In short, Chelsea have been very open - and that has, on occasion, been of Potter's own making.

Playing forwards Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic in wing-back positions at Brighton left Chelsea's defence exposed, and the form of Marc Cucurella has been unconvincing.

Potter admitted he is "90 minutes away from a crisis" at a club like Chelsea, and it's clear he is still working out how best to use an array of attackers.
