  2. 'Players were outstanding' - Neilsonpublished at 17:32 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    FT: Hearts 3-2 Motherwell

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson tells BBC Sportsound: "I thought the players were outstanding. We had to really fight and show the spirit. We've come back from Istanbul. The fans brought the energy to the pitch and it was reciprocated. It shows the spirit we have here.

"I don't think it's a red card. The referee has made a decision quickly. With VAR, I'd hope he'd go have a look at it. We have the monitors at the side.

"His explanation to me was that Jorge was high. I don't think he was out of control or reckless.

"Rangers is going to be a very, very tough game. We have to make sure we bring our best. It's a tough game, but one we look forward to."

  6. Why was Gordon not sent off?published at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    FT: Hearts 3-2 Motherwell

Everyone is scratching their heads at how Hearts keeper Craig Gordon managed to avoid a second yellow card after conceding that penalty.

You can read the law below. Referee Kevin Clancy surely has to issue a second yellow card because he awarded the penalty.

Because it's not a straight red card offence, VAR cannot intervene. So the decision stood.

I'm sure Motherwell boss Steven Hammell will have something to say.

    FT: Hearts 3-2 Motherwell

Hearts midfielder Robert Snodgrass gave his instant reaction on BBC Sportsound.

"The boys were superb," he said.

"The ref makes a decision [to send Jorge Grant off]. Andy Halliday scores two superb goals. That's the character the gaffer is trying to build here. The boys had a tough European campaign. Back-to-back wins in the league, the boys needed it.

"We've got a terrific bunch of lads, great backroom staff. I'm so happy we dug out the win, it was special.

"The fans kept us going at the very end. This club is built on tradition. Go make some memories, but we need players to go make it happen."
