    Hearts 0-0 Motherwell

Barrie McKay sends a free kick sailing behind. That's disappointing from the Hearts forward.

There were plenty of bodies in the box to aim for.

Paul McGinn's afternoon is done. He's been excellent for Motherwell this season.

    Hearts 0-0 Motherwell

Motherwell right-back Paul McGinn is in some pain. He fell awkwardly while tussling with Robert Snodgrass.

It looks like he's over-extended his leg.

It's a gilt-edged chance for Lawrence Shankland. He should have scored.

What a chance for Lawrence Shabkland!

A diagonal ball from Alex Cochrane finds Jorge Grant and it's squared for Shankland, who stretches and touches the ball wide.

You'd expect him to score his 12th goal of the season for Hearts.

Connor Shields bundles over Andy Halliday from a Motherwell free kick.

A waste for the visitors, who have edged the opening 10 minutes.

Motherwell want to play in the right manner, and so do Hearts. If they can click, this could be a classic.

Hearts are right on the coat-tails. Win today and they're just two points behind Aberdeen in third, and they've had all the issues with injuries.

  15. Forrest relief for Well?published at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

Heart of Midlothian v Motherwell (15:00)

Motherwell will perhaps be happy to see Alan Forrest relegated to the Hearts bench.

The former Livingston winger has scored four goals in his last four Premiership appearances against the Steelmen, including a brace in Hearts' 3-0 win at Fir Park in September.

Forrest has five goals overall against Well in the top flight, his most versus a single side.

  16. 'First goal would be big' - Hammellpublished at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    Hearts vs Motherwell (15:00)

Motherwell manager Stephen Hammell tells BBC Sportsound: "There's not a lot in it (the league). I think even our results show that. We've won some really difficult away games but also had a couple games where I feel like we could have picked up a few points. It's important that we continue to pick up points whenever we can.

"If we want to be in and around that sort of area at the end of the season, we need to come to places like this and put on positive performances.

"Our consistency levels this season have been good. It's not always been perfect in home games, but we've been good on occasions.

"We don't have many options to change, especially in the forward areas. I'm happy with the starting XI today. I think it's a team that can cause Hearts some problems, but we need to be at it.

"It's a hostile atmosphere for the away team to come into. Getting the first goal would be big for us and we need to try and keep the crowd quiet.

  17. Long odds on a draw?published at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

Heart of Midlothian v Motherwell (15:00)

Don't be banking on a draw at Tynecastle.

Hearts have only finished all square in two out of their 21 games this season, while Motherwell have won four of their eight away games, losing the other four.

They beat Dundee United on their latest trip away from Fir Park to end a four-game losing streak.

  18. 'League is bread and butter' - Neilsonpublished at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

Heart of Midlothian v Motherwell (15:00)

Hearts boss Robbie Neilson is relishing "a great day for a game and a full house at Tynecastle".

Having made five changes, he explains that he had played several younger players in the Europa Conference League on Thursday with the idea of bringing back senior players to face Motherwell.

"We have learned a lot form it," he said of group-stage football. "I think we just went through a period where we had a number of injuries and it was just our luck that it happened for the European games. It was great, but this is the bread and butter."

Craig Halkett had been touted for a return from long-term injury, but Neilson says the centre-half is still "not quite right".

"We rushed him back the last time and he broke down, so we have to be cautious with him," he adds.

  19. Moult on bench for unchanged Wellpublished at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

Heart of Midlothian v Motherwell (15:00)

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Motherwell manager Stevie Hammell sticks with the same side that won 1-0 away to Dundee United last weekend to end a run of four straight defeats.

However, on-loan Burton Albion striker Louis Moult finds a place on the bench at Tynecastle after improving his fitness following a recent procedure on his ankle.

  20. Neilson brings back key playerspublished at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

Heart of Midlothian v Motherwell (15:00)

Robbie Neilson makes five changes to the side that lost 3-1 to Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey on Thursday as the Hearts boss returns to something more like his strongest available starting XI.

Former Scotland international Robert Snodgrass, who had been ineligible for the Europa Conference League, and Andy Halliday come into midfield, Barrie McKay and Josh Ginnelly return on the wings, while Lawrence Shankland is back up front.

Nathaniel Atkinson, Lewis Neilson, Connor Smith, Euan Henderson and Alan Forrest drop to the bench, where centre-half Kye Rowles returns from long-term injury.
