  2. O'Neil 'always pushing us'published at 22:36 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2022

    FT: Bournemouth 4-1 Everton

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth goalscorer Junior Stanislas told BBC Radio Solent: "A lot of players were champing at the bit to stake a claim and it's worked out well.

"We've spoken about throwing away leads a few times and everyone needs to be on the same page. Pressure is going to come in games and we need to manage it. We did that today."

On making his first start of the season: "It's always nice to play and score. In recent times I've had quite a few injuries so it's just nice to be on the pitch and always great to get a goal.

"Every player always wants to play football. It has been frustrating to deal with injuries but now I want to get more minutes and help the team."

On being handed the captaincy: "It was an honour to wear the captain's armband. It was nice to get the nod. You look around and feel you can help the younger players.

"Hopefully, I helped them in the game tonight."

On interim boss Gary O'Neil: "He's been brilliant for all of us. We've worked with him for a couple of seasons.

"He's done the best he can and we've picked up some really good results. He's always driving us and pushing us.

"We don't know what is going to go on over the winter break but hopefully we can sign off on a high on Saturday."

Jamie Vardy will keep going and keep going. His movement is brilliant and you won't take that away from him.

He hasn't been playing a lot and he hasn't been scoring so he will take a lot of confidence from tonight.

    Tony Pulis
Former Stoke manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

Where do you want me to start? It was really that poor from Everton. They played so slowly and almost helped Bournemouth get through the first half.

They just didn't look a threat at all. The pressure builds, no matter whether the fans like or don't like Frank Lampard, if the results don't improve eventually the finger will be pointed his way.

Would you believe it!? Gillingham had 21% possession, they had one shot on target but all of them to a man go over to the far side where it is absolutely delirium. It's madness.

They have dumped Premier League Brentford out of the Carabao Cup.

The ex-Leeds man runs onto Frenkie de Jong's long ball and heads over the keeper from the edge of the box.
