  1. No changespublished at 20:46 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2022

    Republic of Ireland 0-1 Norway

No changes in either team at half time.

Let's hope there is a change in tempo and excitement levels as the second half gets underway.

    Republic of Ireland 0-1 Norway

Anyone thinking that first half might have been a good bit livelier if this man had been playing for Norway?

    No, nor were we.

Honestly. Promise. Hadn't crossed our minds once.

  3. Keeping Callum in checkpublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2022

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Norway

I think this is what you could call the Norwegians keeping a close eye on Republic forward Callum Robinson.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2022

    Republic of Ireland 0-1 Norway

That Ostigard goal in the 41st minute separates the sides at the end of a first half that was not exactly packed with goalmouth incident.

The goal was an excellent header, though. Movement, power, accuracy. Textbook stuff.

Well, the game needed a goal, but frustratingly for Stephen Kenny it's gone to the visitors.

Odegaard's corner was asking to be met - and boy did Leo Ostigard meet it, and with an unanswerable combination of power and precision.

It's been a drab first half but at least the Republic have something to chase now - and it may force Kenny into making a few changes earlier than he'd planned.

  6. goal

There it is, we have our first goal of the night and it's the visitors who have scored it.

Leo Ostigard heads home powerfully from a corner for his first international goal.

Martin Odegaard delivered the corner from the left and Ostigard lost his marker superbly and did well to bury his header past Gavin Bazunu.

One Premier League star is a very notable absentee in the Norway team tonight, but Arsenal's Martin Odegaard is in Dublin leading his side.

  8. Republic patient but lacking penetrationpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2022

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Norway

More passing about at the back by the Republic.

They like that. It looks decent but so far it is not leading to much.

    What was he waiting on???

Mohamed Elyounoussi cuts inside well from the left and shapes to shoot, and shapes to shoot again. And again.

Then he slips as he is closed down and the chance comes to nothing.

The Republic have failed to take advantage of their attacking set-pieces - especially their corners.

This latest one is just headed clear easily.

The game could do with a bit more life, I think it's fair to say.

That was a wicked free-kick from Norway captain Martin Odegaard.

It looked like it just hit home keeper Gavin Bazunu and deflects away to safety.

    Dangerous from the Arsenal star.

Gavin Bazunu gets very, very lucky!

The Republic keeper gave the ball away as he tried to play the ball out from the back and it fell to Jorgen Larsen, but he blazed his shot over.

That could, and possibly should, have been a lot more costly.

  13. 'Not much to talk about'published at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2022

Classic friendly this. Lack of intensity, crowd not fully engaged, and not much to talk about either.

The Republic have seen plenty of the ball in the opening 20 minutes and Callum O'Dowda in particular looks a threat, but we're yet to see some cutting edge from either side.

Callum Robinson and Michael Obafemi have struggled to make an impact so far, but Norway captain Martin Odegaard - who's been superb for Arsenal this season - has been quiet too...

Fifteen minutes in and we've managed not to mention you-know-who that isn't here that most home fans no doubt would have liked to have been here.

Wonder is he following our live text commentary...

Anyone keeping a check on the Callum O'Dowda cross count?

I make that three from him from the left wing in the opening 12 minutes.

    Corner for the hosts.

O'Dowda again the man forcing the play.

The corner fails the golden rule of beating the first man, though. That's never not frustrating to watch.

This is decent from the Republic.

Patient build-up from the back then they look to get in down the left with Callum O'Dowda. He's had a busy start.

It's Norway's turn to fire over the bar from distance.

Some neat build-up play helped set up Mohamed Elyounoussi but his effort was a bit wild.

A shot each in the opening five minutes - we'll take that for now.

The hosts looking the most urgent in the opening few minutes and Callum Robinson tries his luck from distance.

Decent strike but was always rising too high.
