Pardon the awful play on words, and for that, please accept my apology of a wonderful look-back on 2022 quiz from around the English Football League.

It's been lovingly prepared, and you can play it by clicking your mouse or jabbing your finger on the touchscreen right here.

    Watford v Millwall (12:00 GMT)

As a wise man once said, it's all football all the time...

But we have to start somewhere, so why not check in real quick on the team news for the day's earliest of early games.

Watford boss Slaven Bilic sticks with the side that beat Huddersfield Town when they were last in action on 17 December.

For Millwall, there is just the one change from the side that drew with Wigan 16 days ago. There was, of course, a postponed match that put their festive schedule on ice a little (embrace the lame pun).

That solitary change sees Tyler Burey start, while Mason Bennett is left out of the squad.

"So what do you have for us?", I hear you cry.

Well, from now until HALF PAST 10 tonight, we've got a veritable tasting platter of Championship treats.

Set your palate off with Watford versus Millwall from 12:00 GMT, with a dollop of Sunderland against Blackburn added to the plate at 12:30 GMT.

Then, from 15:00 GMT, it's an all-you-can eat buffet of six Championship matches plus a near full programme in League One and Two.

Cardiff taking on QPR at 17:15 GMT adds a bit of sweetness to the menu, before the suppertime cheeseboard of delights that is Luton's visit of Norwich from 19:45 GMT completes the schedule.

  4. Hornets buzzing, Lions ready to roarpublished at 11:48 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2022

    Watford v Millwall (12:00 GMT)

Watford's seemingly bi-annual promotion push from the Championship to the Premier League is once again well and truly up and running, as Slaven Bilic casts his spell at Vicarage Road.

Under the Croat, the 'Golden Boys' have won seven and drawn two of their 13 league games, to move into fourth place in the table - although while they've not conceded a goal in the past four games, they've only scored four too - all from Joao Pedro.

You'd imagine Bilic will get as hard a time from the visiting Millwall fans - being ex-West Ham of course - as his players will from their team.

Gary Rowett's side are an entertainingly direct bunch, with Zian Flemming - the 'Bermondsey Bergkamp' as he has been tagged - providing the quality following Jed Wallace's exit.

They're still looking for their first win post-World Cup, but the omens aren't good - they've lost five and drawn one of their past six visits to Hertfordshire.

Santa's been, and gone. The presents are all unwrapped. The turkey or nut roast or whatever you've gone for is down to mere remnants, the sweet tin down to coffee and strawberry cremes, and the empties are stacked up in the green bottle box outside.

Christmas, as always, is over too soon.

But, there's no need to feel the slump just yet. It's Boxing Day, and that means one thing.

Football. Here to save the day.

So shake off those hangovers, give your still-heaving tum a pat, and get stuck into this.
